Don't stop. A lot of folks read. And enjoy, and take notes too.

Re: Almost 7 month old Pup
Staring, growling at non-threatening others.. i'd say he is discovering the joy of being a macho bully :( Not a good habit to acquire. Our boy became one of those during his adolescence coupled with dog parks, it took forever to unlearn, but to this day this nasty bully is always right under the sur...

Re: What are you and your dogs up to today? Part 2
Little girl: I want to pet this dog! I want to pet this dog!!! Mother: Sure, let's pet this dog. Little girl starts pulling mother towards Ari, very excited and animated. Ari (108 lbs of Ridgeback): What is this strange loud little monster, coming our way?? Me: Sorry, sweetheart, he is too big and t...

Re: What are you and your dogs up to today? Part 2
Probably an old joke, but the visual is so deliciously good... Why do dog people love their dogs so much? Imagine that by some accident you locked your wife and your dog in the boot of your car... and 10 min later remembered that they are locked in there, ran to the car, and opened the boot to let t...

Re: What are you and your dogs up to today? Part 2
I'm used to getting comments like 'You could put a saddle in it and ride it' when out walking J (who is not an it  ) but I had a bizarre one this morning from a passing cyclist: 'With those legs you must have problems getting trousers to fit.' Was the implication that J, who doesn't wear trou...

Re: What are you and your dogs up to today? Part 2
I can't decide if Jasper's quite himself at the moment. The last two mornings he's only wanted to go round the corner, have a sniff, and turn for home again. He seemed OK yesterday afternoon, and was reasonably lively though. No signs of limping or discomfort, and his appetite is fine. I could unde...

Re: Front Door & Other Issues
That is very true! Ari is much more about show and posturing and having his fun at someone else's expense... plus he really likes when people come over, this is just the way he shows it. Same barking and snarling like a T-Rex when grandma comes over, for example. If Bear would really take a chunk ou...

Re: Front Door & Other Issues
I wonder what would happen if you let Bear meet your postman outside, rather than when the dude is at the door?

Re: Front Door & Other Issues
:-) My 2 cents - barking at the strangers entering or at the door is not really all that horrible. Our (rather large and mean looking) boy too greets delivery folks and others by putting "I am a big and scary dog" show on. The way we handle is to minimize the drama, and get those folks ins...

Nice.
And "every dog lover" is not the same as "everyone".. I am not sure that interacting with the dog lovers in the room, even if jumping in their laps, would worry me too much at this stage.

Re: vomiting
Yeah.. vegetables he loves and gets.
The grass though - it doesn't seem that it even gets digested, and the vomiting seems painful for him, so my intent is to spare him the discomfort.
Is this misguided?
Could it be that his intent is to vomit? in which case I don't want to interfere..

Re: vomiting
I would try to limit how much grass he eats on walks.
Grass doesn't agree with Ari's stomach and leads to vomiting with chunks of grass too.
We are working on "No Grass!" command, with limited success, so it's mostly prevention for us.
