Re: Dog peeing in Dog Run

Shock collars (and choke chains and whatnot) are harsh tools to use on dogs. It does more damage than good. It may "stop" the problem, but it does not address the problem. Please don't use it (or allow anybody else to use it) on your dogs? Rough housing is not the *best* way to play with d...

Re: Dog neurotic about peeing outside

Not sure if this will help, but maybe she's not 100% potty trained yet. Try the advice in this link, and see if it helps? http://positively.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=6125 Is she nervous or insecure? Sometimes dogs scent mark to make them feel more secure. It could be that the carpet smell o...

Re: Raw Food Diet

2) No, you don't. Maybe with sick or old dogs (but then you will supplement a sick or old dog's diet no matter what diet he's on)

3) No. Freeze meat for a month before feeding.

Re: Dachshunds

They are adorable little dogs - I have a dachshund too :D
Both my dogs sleep with us in bed - nothing wrong with spoiling a dog, as long as it's not something that's bad for the dog, like unhealthy things to eat, etc
She sounds as if she has a wonderful life with you :D

Re: Afraid of Dad

Re jumping - ignore her when she jumps. No eye contact, don't even say "no". Or leave the room immediatly for 10 seconds (it works the same as a time out, but it's easier to remove yourself from the room). She will try harder & harder (expect more jumping) and then she will see jumping...

Re: two female dogs

Dogs who were abused usually takes a while to adjust. She is insecure, and her confidence will go up as time goes on. Give her her own bed totally seperate from the other dogs - preferably even in her "own" room - where you can close the door, so she feels like that is her safe place, and ...

Re: excessive licking

Others will come up and offer more advice :D Re the licking: When dogs lick they release endorphines (I hope this is the right word, but it's feel-good-hormones). So especially stressed dogs will lick the bed, couch, anything - in order to make them feel better. She's a rescue, so she has probably b...

When you search for seperation anxiety, read Emmabeth's posts - they have great info.

And make sure your dog is tired (mentally & physical) - that WILL help.
