Re: Puppy pads
First, my personal opinion. Not a big fan of depending on the dog to "tell me" they need to go out. you should be able to stretch your time between bathroom breaks a little bit, but I prefer if people just take the initiative and every 4 hours or so give their dog a change to go outside t...

Re: What are you and your dogs up to today? Part 2
It's good to be back with all of you. Our world has been a bit topsy turvy since I was last on here. Last summer, DH had Sandy 24/7 by himself here in Maine, while I flew to Israel for a month to visit my son, dil, and then two lovely granddaughters. Since then, they have given me a grandson who jus...

Shalista, What a beautiful dog! I agree that you do not need to add any weight. Look at his legs. He couldn't handle more weight. And, to add what Nettle mentioned, extra weight affects the dogs joints. If he likes to jump around like our dog jumps up on furniture, you need to keep his joints health...

Re: Do dogs know a real person from a fake?!
Dogs can also be 'trriggered' by certain objects even if they (probably) know that they're not real. Jasper will stare hard at a cat-sized stone in a driveway. He also fixates on cars travelling along a road in the distance over open ground. I think he knows they're not deer, or he would take off a...

Re: Do dogs know a real person from a fake?!
Very good point there, Jacksdad. Also some dogs respond to animals on television, and run behind the TV to find them, whereas others don't. If I play a DVD that involves a pack of hounds in full cry, my dogs respond to the sound not the picture. Boy do they respond, though. They have been out with ...

Re: Flooring Question!
Would you believe that I actually thought it was spam.
Maybe change the thread heading to: Bendog needs help with flooring
Wish I could help with it, but I wouldn't know what good flooring is for your area.
As Ari_RR stated, maybe you could use some flooring spam.

Delladoo, So, it seems that you mum is doing the best she can. Two dogs are harder to handle, especially with different personalities. It is grea that she is willing to help with Laufey. It must be difficukt for her, too, worrying about finances. Good luck with your exams! What is your major and wha...

Congratulation! What wonderful news! Let us know when you give birth, along with photos. :D :D Of course, you would know how to prepare the dogs for the baby. I wonder if they will have jealousy issues and would love to know how you handle it, And with four dogs, I assume they may react diffe...

Overheard when Jasper was sniffing at the base of a tree outside the local school today: 'Look Daddy, that lady's letting her dog eat the tree!' JudyN, I love it! If the kid only knew how much there was for Jasper to smell on that tree.  After what I just wrote in the rant thread, ...

Re: Vent!
Now, my turn to vent. That article that I quoted above is just the middle of a grave situation. A shi tzu was taken from a woman's car while she was at the post office (it has been warm so even slight window openings are all it takes. Sadly, the shitzu was found dead this morning mauled to deathnd d...

Re: Vent!
Delladoo, I do not think you are overreacting. It just seems to be a very busy park. Sandy couldnt take all that and as Judy mentioned, when the whether is nice we will drive around just to find a place with no one. Sandy reacts to any dog even one barking from behind a fence. We have woorked with h...

I'd be more interesting in knowing why he thinks you shouldn't pee in the middle of the night. Oh I know that one - it's because there could be MONSTERS on the landing  Diane, this is something that dates back to last summer. Jasper heard a noise outside (I can't remember now if it was people ...

Delladoo, Are you sleeping in a twin size bed and mom in as larger one? It does sound crowed with a cat, too. It mist be tough changing positions. Ironically, when we adopted Sandy (who was 1 year old at the time) that he had been in a home with a cat and obviously didn't get along. Sandy hat...

Diane, I was very proud but then apparently later that evening he got a bit of the zoomies and pooped half inside and half outside  I missed this one too (I was in the bath). He's still not consistent about going in the garden and will prefer to wait to go out but any progress is good :D Jud...
