Re: bloody nose

Totally agree with josie1918. Unilateral epistaxis (nose bleed) can come for a few things including nasal foreign body, bleeding disorder (even though that is usually were both nostrils are involved), fungal infections, bacterial infection, hypertension or nasal tumors. I did not see how old your do...

Re: ears

Most of the dogs have painful infections that cause them to start guarding their ears. Instead of using otomax or momentamax we use a product that we put in ear that contains an antibiotic, steroid, and antifungal. It is a paste/wax that becomes more fluid as their body warms it. It absorbs through ...

Re: What's the deal about Lyme, Anaplasmosis and heartworm?

Let me see if I can help shed some light on why we do what we do. You can agree or disagree but this might help give you an idea of where the vets are coming from. What's the scoop with the ACCURATE diagnosis for Lyme/Anaplasmosis Diseases in dogs? Is such a thing possible? Or is it a rip-off? I'm l...

Re: French Bulldog puppy- operation??

Yes French Bulldogs have more problems breathing then other dogs but if you have a vet who is used to doing surgery on bulldogs then you should be fine. The trick is keeping the dog calm and getting the tube in the trachea very quickly. Most anesthesia problems can be avoided with good monitoring. I...

Re: Finding a good vet

Sorry to hear that you have not had a good experience with my profession. It always makes me sad when vets let people down. When looking for a good vet, my best advice is ask around. People with dogs are a great resource and they will know who is good and who is not. Once you find someone you think ...

Re: Can anyone help figure out what is wrong with my dog?

Saw you video and I am so sorry you are having to go through this. I think you need to consult a veterinary neurologist. This could be a form of a seizure or even and unusual muscloskeletal problem. You are mostly likely going to need to have an MRI or advanced imaging and a good neuro exam. Ask you...

Re: Parvovirus/Vaccination

So my questions are: 1) How does she know he got it from the dog park? They do not ever know where they get it from. Even though places where there are lots of dogs (parks, boarding, kennels) are more likely, we never know where they actually get it. 2) What are the risks to my vaccinated dog? Young...

Re: poor buddy

we typically see it in larger dogs but you are the right age. If it does not get better then I would get some radiographs. Typically these dogs are really painful on full flexion or extension of the shoulder. Here is a link. http://www.petplace.com/dogs/osteochondrosis-dissecans-in-dogs-ocd/page1.as...

Re: Post Op Problems

could be adding to the problem. I tell people go bland with diet like boiled chicken and rice or boiled hamburger and rice. Just remember fluids are a good thing for them.

Re: Roundworms

Also remember that you want to take care of roundworms because they are a human health concern and children can get these. They get a form that travels through a cut and lodges in the eye. It is called ocular larval migrans and the kids loose their eye. If you are on monthly heartworm prevention the...

Re: Feet licking is back, I'm so so upset

Make sure they check his feet for yeast. Most feet like you describe may be started with allergies and food but they get yeast infections. If you do not treat the yeast in the feet then it continues on and comes back. look at the pictures of the feet and see what you think. http://www.itchnot.com/im...

Re: poor buddy

What kind of dog is he? and how old is he.

Sometimes they can have OCD lesions in the shoulder especially in young large breed dogs - like labs and retrievers.
