When you retire, as long as you have reasonable health, I can guarantee that you will feel years younger. So in 5 years time when you retire you'll suddenly feel 10 years younger. Strange but true, the clock starts ticking backwards for a few years :D

Re: It really doesn't make sense, does it?

I'm kicking myself right now seeing how easily one is led to do one thing over another relative to spaying and neutering. I don't know where you live Esprit64, but in the UK the major campaign for neutering en masse comes from rescues. Some vets will also add their support for neutering everything ...

doesn't mean there is anything wrong, just that they are not like that - same as some people love practical jokes and other people think they are stupid. that made me splutter my coffee :D It's true. If my dog is bounced by a playful dog it would get the same treatment as someone who put a wooppee ...

I visited someone a while back who fostered a lot of dogs and she had one dog who was just like you describe Jet. When we entered the house she pleaded with us to ignore the dog and let him creep around like a shadow. She said she always asked people to ignore him but they rarely did, because they w...

Oh my, I haven't heard that term for decades if it is what I'm thinking of. Dad was a bit of a Vygotsky fan: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lev_Vygotsky I think the idea is that learning takes place better/quicker (whatever :) ) if the lesson means something culturally. A child living in a culture whe...

Very best wishes for everything to go well :) My ***** was spayed about 3 months ago. Physically she was fine, but she was quite mentally disorientated by the anaesthetic e.g. asking to go out for a wee and then forgetting why she was outside, looking around the room as if unsure where she was. It w...

Fences are certainly a good thing............but don't beat surgical intervention. suppose the dog jumped over the fence to chase a cat, or the postman. Would a surgical cure be appropriate, or would you advise the owner to invest in better fencing. :D Still - go to a shelter and see how many unalt...

Neutering is ONLY guaranteed to cure two things - infection/injury/disease of the body part removed (testicles or uterus/ovaries), and the ability to reproduce. ANYTHING else, such as aggression, humping, peeing, running away.... is VERY much a lucky dip situation. Maybe it will.. maybe it wont - i...

What lucky dogs to have such a thoughtful owner Whitchick! The spay/neuter issue is one that generates a lot of heat. As well as the question of whether to neuter there is the issue of when to neuter. Many times on various forums I see members involved in rescue getting all shouty and capital-letter...
