Re: Bleeding ears when stressed
If the head shaking causes the bleeding from the force of the ears being whipped around, a snug snood may help. It will keep the ear tips from having so much force put on them. It may not be forever; giving the ears a chance to heal and scar up could help them be more resilient in the future. But th...

Re: What are you and your dogs up to today? Part 2
Merlin, who has never been hit or shouted at or anything of the like, and has been heavily conditioned to having his head touched for vet checkups, still HATES his head being touched and dodges everyone but me who tries :P. Its perfectly normal. Congratulations on the double auntie! I am currently ...

Is he shaking his head when this happens or does it happen spontaneously?

I don't know how his timing is because he isn't using the clicker as a marker or anything Did not a single person on the set have a marker trained dog?

Re: Introducing... Charley-Weasels!
Weasels King Henry is a good goof! I miss those magnificent men in their (barely) flying machine. Didn't know that's where the Weasels of Charley-Weasels came from but it's even better now that I do. I love all the pictures of this little Weasel and am excited to see her growing up!

Re: Seeking Advice - 15 week standard poodle puppy toilet training
He is still little! Sometimes he may just not realize he needs to pee until it's really urgent, especially in the more exciting outside-the-pen area. It's great news that he's doing well in the pen! I would avoid having him wander outside the pen unless he is empty. If you can increase the area grad...

Re: Puppy pads
I think keeping the pads in the same places and encouraging him to use those spots is good, though I would probably try to limit it from the beginning as much as possible. So if you think he's setting up to pee, try to positively catch his attention and direct him to his potty spot. The word for mal...

Re: Seeking Advice - 15 week standard poodle puppy toilet training
By taking him out to toilet as often as possible, and preventing chances to go inside, he will develop a habit and preference for going outside. :) It is all that a vast majority of dogs need in terms of guidance for house training. The dogs that need more help are usually dogs that have had a past ...

Re: Seeking Advice - 15 week standard poodle puppy toilet training
Hi there! Congrats on your new puppy. :) With potty training, it helps to set up a schedule. Depending on the dog, they may need to be taken out every 15 minutes or 30 minutes or every hour. See if you can figure out how long he goes between pottying and then take him out a bit sooner than that (eg,...

Re: Walks before rabies vaccine
Personally, socialization and experiences are very important to me. Rabies is known in my area, but generally, I stick to areas with good visibility. It's easier to see a drooling, staggering fox on a wide country road with empty, tilled fields to either side than it is in a crowded subdivision with...

Great job Shalista! You've stuck with Bax and figured out what works for him in his situation, and it's helping him (and you!). That's awesome!

Re: Rough Collie Training Advice?
If uou can, I am very pleased with how puppies raised with Puppy Culture are turning out. As Jacksdad says, some puppies spend a class or two watching fearfully...not so for PC pups! Even the wee tiny breeds like Maltese are confident and curious from day one of class. If you will be raising the pup...

Re: What are you and your dogs up to today? Part 2
Met five of the breeder's six picards today, along with the breeder herseld, and I couldn't ask for a better person or breed. The breeder was super open about issues in the breed without me even having to ask, was GLAD that I saw her 1yr old spooking at a pillar and explained that such environmental...

Re: friend for bax
The rotary fabric cutters are a great little investment! They can get through about four layers of fleece at a time, and it's a lot less repetitive motion. I looooove mine. Got a little rotary cutter+cutting mat combo at a craft store for about $15 on sale. Worth it for me. Scissors usually end up r...

For Bax's size, a sink mat could do nicely. I made one from this sink mat from Bed, Bath, and Beyond. They're also available online for pretty decent prices.
