Re: Vent!

Then again, I could feel lucky that I live on a country where this happens once every year or two, and only as a training exercise

Re: What are you and your dogs up to today? Part 2

I'm heading off on Friday for 10 days in NZ visiting family. OH is in a new job so doesn't have much leave accrued, and we'll go together in January anyway, so he is staying home this time. I can't believe how much I've gotten funny about leaving Sweetie. I know she's going to be perfectly cared for...

Re: Vent!

Half a dozen black hawk helicopters doing training execerises over my suburb tonight. And every time they fly over and Sweetie barks at them, I feel like joining in with her.

Apparently I can expect this joyful event to continue until 11:30pm

Re: Trixie Dog Activity game

Sweeties human, Yes, Sandy would use his nose and figure out where the treats are and tear it apart. When I was trying to use treats in my pocket to teach Sandy not jump at the animals on TV, Sandy figured out where they were, nearly tore my jeans pocket and as you said mugged me. Well, the treats ...

Re: Need help!

I also have no idea.

But CONGRATULATIONS!!

I'm sure you'll be able to get everything as sorted as it possibly can be ahead of time.

Great news :D

Re: Ears

By all means see your vet, but tufts of fur coming away is part of the healing process. The scabs slough off and have to take fur with them. Underneath is healthy skin. :) Oh Nettle! That is exactly what the vet said! Apparently whatever skin infection it was, it's pretty much gone and this part, d...

Re: Ears

Spoke too soon  .

I've just found her scratching it and when I put some aloe vera on it, some tufts of fur came away in my hand. And it does look a bit scabbier, so I think we're off to the vet this afternoon.

Re: Ears

Thanks everyone. We are on day 2 of Operation Aloe Vera. Will definitely update the thread with the results, but may not br for a couple of weeks - I'm away for ten days from Friday so OH will be in sole charge of all pug grooming and care. He'll take her to the vet if it's not better by the weekend...

Re: Ears

It doesn't sound like mange, and if it were, it'd be no big deal. It's so easy to cure nowadays - not like the old days when all we had was sulphur. Hope the ears clear up soon. :) there's always lavender or aloe vera to try. Aloe vera? Pretty sure I have a tube of it in the bathroom or the fridge ...

Re: Trixie Dog Activity game

Judy, How great! Reminds me of Pavlov and the bell. Sandy wouldnt do that though. He would be jumping all over me to find and steal all the treats. Forget the buzzer with Sandy. He doesn't believe in earning treats.  Diane Oh Diane! Sandy and Sweetie are kindred spirits! I'm pictu...

Re: Puppy Names

Sweetie was Portia when we got her. That was never going to happen at our place  . She didn't answer to it so we decided to change it. It was OH who wanted a pug, so I told him to pick a name. While he thought about it, we kept saying things like "come here little sweetie" and "...

Re: Ears

Thanks for the response Judy. Your caution is noted  . I kind of hope it is the fungal infection or dry skin as they seem the least horrible of the alternatives. I have to say that mange did cross my mind at first and I did a crazy-pug-lady freak out until OH pulled me into line :D . I'm think...

Ears

I've had a look for this in the archives but can't see anything that relates to the outer ear. I've noticed this morning that Sweetie's ears look a little different. The fur on the very edge of the ears seems to be a bit ragged or clumpy looking. It's hard to describe. It feels a little crusty to to...

AND

That tongue-in-cheek kids book 'Go The F... To Sleep' - can someone please read it to my neighbour's dog tonight? Every time he starts up my Sweetie goes out the back to yell at him... I just want to go to bed. :?
