Back again
Sorry I've been missing in action for a while again. Been feeling pretty rubbish for months now and about a month ago was diagnosed with diabetes. Spent 10 days in hospital while they got my blood sugar stable and am now managing it at home fairly well. I'm on insulin injections at the moment but th...

Re: Raw quantities....
http://www.raw4dogs.com/calculate.htm I use this as a jumping off point and adjust from there depending on whether the dog gains or loses weight on 2% or stays the same. Spen got 300g of kibble a day, he gets 800-900g of raw a day (between 2.5 and 3%) so it's not a weight by weight conversion unfort...

I don't think you're going to get any really different answers here than you got elsewhere Perhaps you should post the video you took to see if the people here pick up on what people elsewhere did.

Re: 2 dogs in a tense stand off
Most people where I live are all in favour of letting the dogs sort it out between themselves and it does work well in a lot of cases. It's definitely not appropriate in some situations or with some dogs though. Glad things worked out between Ari and the GSD, perhaps next time they see each other th...

Re: A Spencer update with pics
I know Jacksdad, I gained about 80lbs when they changed my epilepsy meds and although I've been off them for over 2 years now the weight just isn't going despite all my efforts. Last doctor fobbed me off with "eat less, exercise more" and then told me I was fat enough that I qualified for ...

Re: A Spencer update with pics
Thanks all :D Spen is in great shape as far as I can tell and he's a happy dog with a great attitude. He's pretty much everything I want in a dog really. He does still have his moments though. Like deciding to ignore me to say hello to another dog a few weeks ago. That got me a glare despite the fac...

Re: Martingale?
I use a half check/martingale (what is the difference? People tell me there is one but...) and I have mine adjusted so it sits about as tight as a regular collar when unchecked but when the chain tightens it is tight enough that it's not going to be slipped easily. It's not tight enough to choke tho...

A Spencer update with pics
Been a while since I posted but thought I'd give you all an update on the Silly Spendog :D He's 2 in a couple of weeks, time seems to have flown! For the past couple of months we've been going to the local sled dog meets and he's been getting lots of off leash interaction with well adjusted dogs whi...

Re: Precious being rude..
Spencer was a bit of a nightmare when I first got him. He was 9 months old and a real thug with other dogs. Nothing nasty about it, he was just rude, obnoxious and didn't have the foggiest how to interact politely. He'd been exposed to a few dogs but all of them young and as obnoxious as him. If a d...

Re: Mutual humping
Shadow once fell over my uncles outstretched legs when he went to rush out the door to bark at something. He picked himself up, stalked into the living room and sulked in there for the next hour. He seemed to be highly offended that we laughed at him.

Re: Juuuuuuuust in case...
Hope you feel better soon Emmabeth, my mum has COPD and has broken ribs coughing several times now. I'm one who really has to be in pain to take painkillers, I hate taking them. I can't take Ibuprofen at all as I get horrendous stomach cramps from it. Hubby goes mad coz I'll say I've got a headache ...

Re: Mutual humping
Lol, thank Emmabeth. It wasn't something I was overly concerned about given that neither dog seems at all upset by it, just wondered whether anyone knew of a particular reason why they'd do it. I'd be a little concerned if you did wee on your friends foot in public  But yeah, I have a friend wh...

Mutual humping
Just wondering whether anyone can shed any light on it. There's an older dog we know who Spencer seems to have mutual humping sessions with. This is in a group situation and neither dog humps any of the other dogs or accepts being humped by any of the others. But this dog will briefly hump Spen and ...

Re: It's been a while
Lol Judy, someone else said the same about the dressing up box. I've also got a pic of him after he wrapped a sheet around himself. Bendog, my blog has been sadly neglected too. I blame winter, it's been horribly cold and icy and I've not dared venture far or done much training outdoors so not much ...

It's been a while
Been a while since I was last here  Spencer has been with me for a year now and we've seen a lot of changes. He's no longer sparked out after a 20 minute walk, now it's a case of tire him out if you can  He's still a compulsive thief, nothing is safe around him and I honestly think he's ...
