Re: Socialising problems with Jack Russell
agree with Nettle...you don't need puppy class to socialize. I fell into this trap and paid $250 WHOPPERS :( for a puppy class with THREE OTHER DOGS. NOT worth it. The experience was great, but I find that taking Daisy out on 3 walks a day and taking her to every dog friendly place on the island (I ...

i, too, can understand your stress. I was ready to give Daisy back to my friend as well. I felt like as soon as I was done cleaning up ne area, she was going AGAIN!!! I finally figured out that my time intervals were too long (i thought 30 minutes apart was enough for a pup, but every pup is differe...

Re: Diarrhea situation
when Daisy had a bout with diarrhea we called the vet immediately (I'm a nervous parent LOL) and they suggested to put her on a bland diet. We bought some cans of ID Gastrointestinal health canned food and fed her ONLY that for 3 days. Within a day, her stool hardened and it's been fine since. Since...

This is no different really, except he is never gonig to bring home a thoroughly unsuitable girlfriend/boyfriend, or demand vastly expensive trainers. HAHAHAHAH ROFL!!!!! I did that SO MANY times to my poor parents! That's why I've decided not to have kids, JUST HAVE DOGS!!! joking....but som...

Re: How to stop constant barking
the stuffed, frozen kongs definitely helped rid Daisy of her separation anxiety (or settle it down, maybe is a better way to put it). I'm not an expert, but it seems your dog suffers from a little bit of separation anxiety? There are great recipes on the diet thread for stuffed and frozen kongs, but...

that is WONDERFUL to hear! I know how you feel - it's like we lose a part of us when we lose a dog, so it is wonderful to hear that you not only can keep all 3, you can give them the BEST life possible and they can bring the MOST into your life, too. awesome! keep up the great work!

Re: Dog is scared of husband
this is weird. it's like I'm reading about myself. I've had Daisy for 2 months. She's 4 months old. She's half border collie. and she's TERRIFIED of my Dad. She barks and growls like he's gonna kill her! I also don't think she was abused because I got her from a friend but I have no idea what is mak...

if he's been deemed dangerous, I really think it's your right (and responsibility) to call someone (or knock on your neighbors door although I don't recommend that) to be sure that he is somewhere safe at all times. I would say that no matter how well YOUR dog is trained, you cannot account for the ...

Oh, gosh, I feel so bad for you, I really do. :( I wonder.... do you have any other troubles training Jamie in any other types of behaviors? (like sit, etc.) Could she possibly have a mild case of brain damage/mental retardation that is causing her learning disability? Granted, at five months old s...
