I just think they see something behind them and it looks like it's following them. Crazy huh?

Our Lab used to do that and one time she grabbed her tail and bit it and "yelped"; thus realizing that thing was part of her. lol

PS: My lab does not like the water as well.

I keep her cooled off by keeping her hydrated and in the shade and if it's really super hot - we got the A/C running. heh

I never heard of dogs sweating through their paws. My Vet told me they sweat through their tongue.

They pant to cool themselves off.

Mia may need shrink

Mia is a lovely Shitzu/Papillon mix - she favors the Shitzu. Potty training is up and down but we are hanging in there. As I have stated before, Mia gets anxious around strangers but mostly with men. She seems to be doing better ... up until this past week. Mia has a new thing now. She pees unexpect...

thanks Spydre .... that makes alot of sense Also, my husband is very attached to Mia and was worried Mia would want to go with this little boy but she didn't because what he didn't realize was how much Mia has gotten attached to him. He is the only one she will give a "kiss" (without askin...

Nettle - thank you so much. For some reason, I knew you or Emma would be the first to respond. :-) I got the impression that this was not the first time this little boy got warned by "Mia" - before she came to us that is. We have 2 other dogs and Mia was the only one he said "she has ...

aHHHH - just saw Baylee is a Black Lab. My favorite subject. Black Labs are a wonderful - gentle breed and they learn fast. Do you know Black Labs are capable of learning over 400 human phrases? Amazing huh? We are now at a point where we have to spell in front of our Lab. She's too cute! You will h...

Welcome to the dog world! First of all - 11 weeks old - they are a baby but very trainable. For biting - now is the time to discourage that. Squeal when she bites on you. If you've ever seen puppies play and one starts to get rough - one will squeal and the ruffian usually stops. Also ignore the pup...

Momma "Mia" .... Here we go again.....

Mia will be 7 months old June 1st. She's a little darling but with a twist of T.N.T. in her and I'm a little concerned. In my original post - I wrote about her potty training (which is still ongoing but progress is slow but steady and good) and about her fear of some people especially men. We have h...

Well that's what I figured. Mia is improving each day with people. She's at a stage now "happy to say hi but no touchy!" lol That's ok - all in good time, I'm just glad her fears are dissipating. I just tell everyone let her greet you but not to try and pet her until she actually jumps in ...

I lived in NJ all my life and yes we do have leash laws and people in my town are very good and obey those laws. We only let our dogs out in the field when no one else is around. I would never take our dogs off leash when there are any other dogs or people around. I have mixed emotions about the Dog...

PS: my girl will be 7 months old June 1st. We've only had her for going on four weeks so I have a long road ahead of me :-( BUT we let her out every hour consistently. We give her as many bathroom breaks as she needs during the day. Night time - she sleeps in her crate and does well in the crate. Yo...
