Re: Vent!
Vent - Bindii prickles/weeds growing throughout parkland and lawn, with grass-level spiky weeds that die off at this time of year leaving gazillions of bindii prickles everywhere that stick in bare feet (people and dogs). Having to walk mainly on concrete/pavement isn't as much fun. Luckily there's...

Re: Looking for advice on how to find a dog to adopt
Oh he is just the cutest (well, second cutest, of course  !) LOVE the sealion impression! Yes, I mean sardines from a tin. I buy the sardines in springwater. I'm sure a tiny bit of oil won't hurt, but probably best to avoid them in brine. Bits of leftover meat are good too. Bits of cheese, hotd...

Re: What are you and your dogs up to today? Part 2
Just back from a lovely swim at the beach where we came across a pretty little black pug and her crazy pug lady. So obviously we had to stop and introduce ourselves and play with each others pugs and chat for about half an hour  . So now Sweetie's had her bath and zoomies around the back yard a...

They are gorgeous! Love the speed stripes on them all. You'll have a fast team out of that litter.

Re: Vent!
Several things in this story p@ssed me off. No prizes for guessing correctly. Driving home from work on a busy street and I saw a guy trying to get hold of a dog that looked like a terrier mix. He was struggling to catch it. Then I saw a maltese-type dog running on the busy road. So many people slow...

Re: Looking for advice on how to find a dog to adopt
Aahh, there will be lots of 'lesson learned' thoughts along the way. Don't worry too much about it. You sound like you're making faster progress than we did. OK several things: I understand what you mean about getting him used to people, but I wonder if it might be a bit early for a Tokyo station ye...

Re: Looking for advice on how to find a dog to adopt
Oh he's so lovely! They make me laugh. Sounds to me like you're doing the right sort of things. I'd only say that he looks like he might be a touch stressed at the park and the station. But it could just be the photos. It must be hard in Tokyo (was it Tokyo?) to find quiet places to take him. I've r...

Re: What are you and your dogs up to today? Part 2
Rocky mainly rode my scooter, hopping off to pee on things which I kindly pull up close to for him! I love this. I can see in our future (hopefully a long way into it) us carrying little missy around the neighbourhood and plonking her down beside the odd pole for a sniff. Poor Trish. I woukdn't swa...

Re: Looking for advice on how to find a dog to adopt
It's only the first week so I know it's still way too early but I can't help feel frustrated sometimes. You'll feel frustrated plenty of times  . But he'll be worth it. In terms of the kongs you leave him with, two things: 1. In the early stages, give him some super special kongs (see 2, belo...

Re: Looking for advice on how to find a dog to adopt
Should just add that the 'in the laundry 10min later' isn't the first time she's seen me all morning. She gets a walk early and then we have some play time before I get ready for work.

Re: Looking for advice on how to find a dog to adopt
It's great to see him looking so happy and relaxed. I love those puggy smiles! I also adopted an older pug almost 2.5 years ago. However she is my first dog and I'm certainly no expert. But so much of what you wrote rings true with us as well. Unfortunately, I'm no help with the anxiety-while-we're-...

Re: What are you and your dogs up to today? Part 2
Oh AND - a little brag. A lady we've become friendly with on early morning walks who has seen Sweetie right from the start when we got her a bit over two years ago, commented on how slender she's looking :D . She would have first seen Sweetie a few weeks after we got her when she could finally make ...

Re: What are you and your dogs up to today? Part 2
Maybe I should consider a snood for Sweetie  . Because she has such a flat face and completely LOSES HER MIND where food is involved, we often end up wiping food off her ears and eyebrows  . She shoves her whole head in her bowl  . Yeah GWD - a couple of those fabrics were tempting. ...
