Re: Jekyll and Hyde dog

I would have him checked by a vet including bloods if he was my dog, I would rule out any health problems, he may be getting bouts of pain which could cause this behaviour. Once health problems was ruled out then come back and we will help.

Re: Housetraining continued.

Lololol, I agree, the bathtub is VERY convenient for cleaning !!! I 'hope' she gets it eventually. Just 'feels' like she isn't and 'I' feel like I'm doing nothing but dog all day and getting nothing else done. Not that that is necessarily bad either, for the dogs sake, except I have a family and ho...

Re: Housetraining continued.

The alarm clock is for you not her so if you are absorbed in something it will remind you to take her out. Take note of the times she is peeing, often dogs get into the habit of going about the same time of day, you can then get her outside when you are expecting her to pee. She may be better with a...

Re: My first dog/Husky problems

Yes, sure, We both work 5 days a week. Juneau stays home alone. One of us walks him once in the morning & once in the evening. How long is he walked for and is it on or off the lead? He has all the space: upstairs & downstairs. When he's home alone, he can sit by the window, look at whateve...

Re: Housetraining continued.

And Mattie, I love it !! Told the kids am coming up with a chores chart for the summer. When questioned 'why', "Because I'm going to be awfully busy having to train the dog all by myself !" So they don't want to help with the dog then they are going to be busy doing the work I would norma...

Re: Puppies on Prozac???

I have to admit, that the episode where the psychobabbling bs'er that convinced the owner to dope her dog with psychiatric drugs, completely turned me off. The vet/dog shrink lied when he said there would be no change in behavior-- these drugs have suicide and violence warnings all over them for pe...

Re: Housetraining continued.

But actually, since I'm just back from a 1 week vacation, I'm considering it starting all over again. Good, set aside the time to do this, be really consistant and she will learn to toilet outside. Jamie is almost 4 ms old. She is gated in the mud room all night; she does not potty in the mud room....

Re: Separation Anxiety - Timing & Reinforcement

Hi, my name is Gabe and I'm working with my family's 3 year old Newfoundland, Flora. I have decided to take on the feat of eliminating her separation anxiety. I moved out a while back, but am taking care of her for the month. She has it a bit with all the family members, but especially badly with m...

Re: Hunting with dogs

Just imagine how much exercise the hounds get, they have to get a lot to be as fit as they are, we all know just how much exercise contributes to relaxed dogs. Hopefully in a few months time I will be able to take my dogs for long walks again, I just can't wait.

Hi Liv, why not have a word with the people that are helping Mica, she is making really good progress as well as being such a stunning looking girl. You have plenty of dogs to get first hand experience with you basically need the theory. Also have a look in the articles section, there is a lot...

Re: intussusception

Mattie, I think you and I have fundamentally different ideologies, and you seem very invested in yours, so I don't think it would be productive to continue. I love explaining the intricacies of the natural hygiene approach to disease but I have a rule that the listener must be receptive and the ton...

Re: Dog in a state over cleg fly

Do you have any colloidial silver or aloe vera? Either of these on it will help, also vinegar used to help if I had nothing else to put on them. Tomorrow is too late for the RR, but not to late to put something on them.

Hi Mattie, I have responded to your comments individually, below. "If this was my dog I would be more worried about my dog dying if they were not operated on than why at the moment, once the operation is over and the dog recovering then I will want to know why." **In all life-threatening ...

Can you give us a run down of his normal day please? Include as much as you can, exercise, food, play etc. The more information you give us the better we can help.

Re: New Dog - Reactivity Problems

Sorry for the late response, it's been a few stressful days. To start, I'll say that we are not adopting Angus and he is unfortunately back at the rescue's kennel (a very nice kennel). My mom wasn't comfortable with having a dog his size at this time and just didn't feel like she wanted to fully co...
