thanks for the tips. he is still a bit afraid of the clicker but i have found ways to get him used to it better. also with the moving backwards, it sounds more succesful than the forwards. in the park he is always dragging me to sniff something.

im sorta trying to train my dog. we got him about 3 years ago and didnt train him then. consequently its gotten worse. he wont sit every time i tell him to, he wont come when i tell him to, and he wont listen on walks. what i have found that helps is if you can neuter the cairn terrier if you havent already. also if he isnt used to the other male dog he might be trying to take over the house.
