Re: Cocker Spaniel suddenly resourcing guarding everything
First thing is a full vet check including blood work to rule out any medical reason for this sudden change in behaviour. It would also be a good idea to bring a urine sample with you to vets for them to check for UTI.

Re: What has your smart dog figured out?
classical conditioning....coffee pot noises mean ball time = Hmmm not sure this actually counts as classical conditioning, I don't have the energy to go get the definitions right now but classical conditioning would elicit a reflexive response in the dog (such as salivation or dilation of pupils), ...

Re: Dog Listening?
From the website they don't seem to be awful just not great and a bit behind the times really. If you can separate the wheat from the chaff then there's probably no harm in going along.

Some people will say that males are easier some will say females are easier, I don't think that there's any right or wrong so go with your heart.

Re: Late night pee
I'd suggest not leaving his bedtime walk so late either as you'll have more patience for him. Take him out at 10 or 9.30 instead at least until he can get into a rythem of nighttime walk means pee time. I think that Laufey has some anxiety and fear issues that are effecting things and I promise you ...

Re: My New GSD Puppy
I think that it is very important to get the dog you want but it's also very important to fully understand what you are getting yourself into  . I have a very high energy JRT, she's 6 now and still a handful  but I adore her and love everything about terriers (even things that most peopl...

Re: Diet for convalescing raw-fed dog
I totally missed this post Judy I hope he's feeling better now. I know this is not part of the raw feeding "recommended" foods but I give Honey some porridge (made with water) with a little yogurt and a tiny bit of honey when she's feeling unwell. It seems to go down very well and settles ...

Re: Vent!
Current bug bear "He's only a puppy!" Yeah he WAS only a puppy... a few months ago, he's now a big lout who has no manners at all and adult dogs should not have to tolerate him. Would you tolerate a teenage boy jumping on your back or pulling your hair? Nope, didn't think so, you wouldn't ...

Re: What are you and your dogs up to today? Part 2
Jasper looks a lot brighter now. He's still whining, but now I think he's whining from hunger, not having had any breakfast. I've given him a couple of small portions of minced turkey but don't want to overload his system - his tummy was making some very worrying gurgles just now  Judy as a ...

Re: What are you and your dogs up to today? Part 2
Poor Jasper that looks nasty. Though I'm sure he won't object to all the extra spoiling he'll get  . I just can't understand it, a few months ago rain didn't bother him and now we don't like rain, don't like big bangs, not a fan of the cold and often decides he's just going to stand and stare ...
