Re: "They Sure Are Well-Mannered!"

Yippee! Way to go! I love it when people get the message to not bother a dog. I'm planning on taking Sirius to the ice cream shop tonight. She will be wearing her no hands tank top. They have pup cups at our ice cream shop. It is outdoors and tends to form long lines with lots of people and multiple...

Re: 2012

Being a chld of the 70's and living not terribly far outside of DC, we used to look at the diagrams they had for what happens at various distances from the bomb impact (nuclear). Something like total destruction within 50 miles of impact. We were well aware that if a bomb did fall, with DC being lik...

off lead and heeling around other dogs!

Sky had her jumping focus class tonight. Because I have been trying to get her to drain herself before class rather than be so preoccupied with marking everywhere during class and we arrived a little earlier than anticipated; I took her for about 5 laps around outside of the agility field before cla...

Re: Personal Trainer on Four Legs

Taking Sky to agility has been giving me a work out. I really should try to take up jogging for her sake, I was just never a distance runner. I did track in hs one season (sprinter) and it took me all season to be able to jog a mile. I keep hearing about those shoes. I really think I need to ...

Re: Sky and Sirius

Thank you all! Sky does have amazing eyes. I call the color cloud blue. Other members of the family insist that they are white. :? It kind of depends on the lighting, but there is usually some faint hint of the blue even if it isn't a dazzeling blue. Sirius is just an absolute cutie. From the first ...

Re: thundershirt

Well here is version #2. I think we have success! :D I haven't added the signage yet. I basically took a seam somewhat straight  down from the shoulder strap at it's narrowest point in the front from the neck to the hem. I then cut that portion of fabric out leaving about 5/8" seam allowa...

Re: thundershirt

I'm going to try test garment #2 hopefully tonight. After speaking with a coworker who suggested taking one of the other shirts in the 4 shirt pack to add the extra needed fabric to the back of the shirt, I realized, that what I take out of the front of the shirt could be added to the back of the sh...

Wow, this is the first time I have ventured into the general chat section. Glad to hear things are working out well, and that there are caring vets out there. Kudos to you for being able to think of using a cell phone charger in a new and unique way. :D
Best wishes for continued rapid healing.

Re: Pet store trainings...?

It may well depend on the trainer at the particular store, but they don't necessairly have to have a big background in pet training. I believe they watch a video. The trainer I had seemed very knowledgable, and was an experienced pet owner. However, as I have learned more myself, her methods weren't...

Re: thundershirt

The thundershirt does seem to help some and Sirius doesn't seem to mind wearing it at all once I get it on her, but I think the velcro closures are a little disturbing for both dogs. I also haven't put it on her for going outside to see if it will help on walks and other outdoors activities, because...

Re: making progress

The real rally instructor was at class this week. Sirius had a great time. She was much more relaxed? I question relaxed, because she was more puppy giddy than relaxed. She did all of the stations well except one. There was a stop and sit. The stop and sit she did great, but then when we went to con...
