Re: Westie puppy 9 weeks / playing=biting
Right now, what are you doing to correct him when he bites like that?

Re: Did You Train through Books/Classes or Other?
I am not an expert, but I just brought home my puppy last week and spent the previous year researching her breed and the best training methods, so I figured I share where I started. Sometimes, noob perspective is nice. :-) Like most people here, I'm a huge fan of IMOTD which served as a wonderful ex...

Re: pulling on lead!
I am far from an expert here, but I don't see why you couldn't use a no-pull harness. I've done a brief internet search and couldn't find anything about it. I'm assuming this is a bigger dog? Also, 20-25 minutes of walking per day, especially for a bigger dog, seems like not enough exercise, so that...

Collar/leash training for very young puppy
I am in the first week of sharing my home with my 7, almost 8 week old puppy (Pembroke welsh corgi). We started training her to wear a collar and leash almost immediately after we brought her home. I wanted to share what I was doing and see if any of you have suggestions or can affirm that I'm doing...

Re: How can i become a dog trainer?
You should check out the info in the Dog Training tab under Positively.com's main page. Victoria talks a lot of the Animal Behavioral College (ABC) as a wonderful training school. I figure it you want to be a trainer like her, that's a good place to start. And if your career really takes off, maybe ...

Too many treats?
I am using freeze dried beef liver cubes as a training treat for my puppy (which she goes NUTS for). The package says for "small" dogs the recommended serving size is 1-2 cubes. We end up cutting up the cubes because they're too big for her as is. Anyhoo, my main question is...is there har...

Re: Alarm used on Buster and Morgan episode...
I don't mean to highjack the thread here, but why doesn't Victoria use sound aversion anymore? Since Animal Planet still frequently shows the old episodes, it does give the impression that her training techniques haven't changed much.

Re: Brand new puppy-looking for pointers
Forkin-I know exactly the noise you're talking about. :-) Thank you both for the advice. I started the new method today, so we'll see how it goes. The first round of play, she didn't seem to care too much when I walked out of the room, and 10 seconds seemed a bit too long. She'd start to wander off ...

Brand new puppy-looking for pointers
Hey everyone, A few days ago I brought home our new puppy. I did a lot of research before deciding to get her, but I'm hoping to get more specific advice as I go along raising her. Zelda's a 7 week old Pembroke welsh corgi (with a tail! :D ). We got her from a wonderful breeder in Idaho who did a fa...

Re: Episode 218 - Puppy Special - May 22
Hi Victoria, This episode came at a really great time as I went and picked up my 7 week old Pembroke welsh corgi the following Thursday. I was definitely more interested in the techniques the family with a new puppy would use, however the one issue I felt could use a bit more coverage was biting/nip...
