Visiting family - anxious and wont settle
Hello! Just to recap Pepper is a labrador just 2.5yrs. She has low self confidence, unsure why this has developed, what we did, but we manage it best we can. She is ball obsesive and gets very anxious very easily. A couple of things we have been working on have shown a vast improvement, especially w...

Re: What's your "heart" breed, and when did you fall in love?
I dont think i have a heart breed either. As a kid we had cross breeds of various terrier types. We decided on a Labrador as it practically ticked all our boxes, i know the most about the breed from the research i did and i have a soft spot for them but of course i think Pepper is the prettiest Labr...

Re: Which dog would you like to spend the day with?
Reading so much about the dogs on this forum, their quirks, personalities and mischievous ways i would love to meet them all. But if i could have a day with any, I choose Swanny and his troops! What a day that would be

Re: Pepper
Thanks guys! :D Lovely for Pepper to get so many compliments. We have fallen in love with the Yorkshire Dales and I think Pepper has too, the freedom she has to run wild, its just lovely to see, she manged to chase a few pheasants which she was very pleased about and as we usually follow the river o...

Re: Pepper
Thanks Judy :) and Merry Christmas! I think shes beautiful too but I'm biased hehe All the worrying was back in August, probably the most stressful thing I've had to deal with, I'm still having to remind myself of the reasons we made the decision, i still feel so guilty for putting Pepper through it...

Re: Dog Compromises
I agree with the previous comments, although i did skim through, those dogs are not getting enough stimulation. Huskies are so smart and energetic they need more. Have a read through the training articles here on the forum. They need walking daily, training daily and mental stimulation when left alo...

Re: Dog beds
Oh dear Pepper is not pampered like that at all, she has a duvet with a winter tog/thickness from asda which was about £10 and then i change the duvet cover to match the seasons its lovely and cosy and we've actually slept on it together!

Re: Can playing ball stress my dog out?
Are scent trails like playing Hide and seek? If so it's easy! Hide toys around the house and ask the dog to find them. We have named our toys (Jeff the giraffe, rabbit, ratty, ball, etc) and taught Pepper the names, it's fun to hide a few toys and ask for them in different orders. We also hide treat...

Re: Can playing ball stress my dog out?
Hi! My dog isn't aggressive in any way but gets very stressed out and i have recently realised thanks to the support on this forum that over stimulation/excitement is closely linked to anxiety. To Pepper her ball is number one to the point where she is stressed out worrying about its whereabouts, or...

Re: Signs of Separation Anxiety
Hi there! I am no expert on seperation anxiety, etc but i picked up on this statement. We have tried the 'fun place to be' ie his bed and trained him on the the bed, treat, doorbell/bed/treat etc, it worked for 2 weeks and now he is back to beginning again. At 11 months old he will need constant pra...
