Seems like a nice, good looking boy to me.. Doesn't look very fat.
How's his food stealing ? Did you manage to get that issue under control?
Emmabeth, perhaps you can throw IMG tags around the URLs in the post above?

Re: "Time-out" outside the house? /biting when over-excited
It is unwanted behaviour and needs to be addressed in some way, not just ignore. In this case, ignoring may actually be the way to address this unwanted behavior. Every time she jumps on you - you turn into a tree.. turn away from her, stand still, don't look at her, no arm movement, no talk, nothi...

Re: All New Diesel Thread - shiny, new and full of positivity!
Allowing dogs in bedrooms is absolutely NOT 'wrong', its a personal choice I agree! And, to lighten up the mood: Upstairs, the dog can meet other interesting creatures that live there.. Or sneak into daddy's bed, pretend to be a human, and take a nap while noone's looking   (sorry if some...

With all respect to all participants... I think that the folks on this forum should embrace the fact that not every given advice can or will be followed, and that not every situation will be resolved with everyone and the their dog happy, singing cumbaya. Real life situations are way more complex th...

Re: Border collie exercise
In this case, I wouldn't worry much about timing his walks with a stop watch... But rather observe him during and after - if he is tired when he gets back, and if he has a good time while walking, and if you mix in some mental exercise and training into his walks (simple things...for example stop, h...

Re: Border collie exercise
Yes, post pictures.. Another possibility is that he is older then you think.
In general, border collies need running, you want him to run. If he is not a big fan of the running thing because it's too difficult for him - then once he looses a bit of weight he may get into running.

Re: Any advice for breaking up pit bull fighs?
Wow.. Chances are high of getting hurt, but if you must, then I think here is the general approach: 1 - stay calm, don't scream at the dogs, they won't hear you being in survival mode, and don't get between them once they latched onto each other 2 - grab a leash, thread under the belly of one of the...

Re: Not sure what to do about this.
This one stumped me... My guess - training sessions are sort of special occasions, even though they happen every day many times... With that, they should have an ending.. So I would probably keep doing what you are doing, and just ignore filthy looks from the corner (very funny visual, actually :lol...

Re: Free running
Bendog - that's a funny pic.. He is surely easy to loose sight of!  Poo on leash - no problems here for Ari, if you gotta go - you gotta go! I can't even begin to think how we would deal with this. So, I ended up with 3 follow-ups here: 1 - free running in our fenced in area, chasin...

Re: Separation anxiety or boredom?
I feel the same way... This seems like boredom to me. No amount of toys can keep dogs entertained for 8-9 hours, even if they are tired after morning activities and sleep some of the time during the day. I would suggest having someone visit them during the day and take them outside. So routine becom...

Re: Free running
You could probably find tons of videos on your fishpole game if you search "flirt pole" on Youtube. :) Yes indeed, "flirt pole" search on YouTube works... (to tell the truth I wasn't sure who would show up - dogs chasing toys, or exotic dancers) I also had this vague, perhaps si...

Re: Border collie exercise
Still a lot for a 10 month old puppy, but much better then 70 lbs. There could be various scenarios here, I guess. He could be an extraordinary large border collie He could be a mix (border collie / mastiff perhaps? ) He could be overweight You need to decide what's more likely. If he is extra...

Re: Free running
Yes! Thanks, will work on that! Also - discovered something this afternoon, in a rare epiphany moment, with help from some other brainy ridgeback owners and YouTube. There is a dog sport, primarily for sight hounds, lure coursing... Dogs chasing a mechanical rabbit (lure). M-Rabbit is attached to a ...

Re: Free running
Well.. Ari and I are back.. there were more 4-legged and 2-legged in the park then I was hoping for, but what the heck, I let him run free.. not all the time, but on more then one occasion. You would think that with leaves on the ground it's easier to spot oncoming humans and dogs, but they still fi...
