Aaaaaaaaah, the Staffie song!

Well - this time I am beaten. Others may have ideas to help you, but I have honestly no idea how to stop a happy Staffie singing along as you drive. We often walk with a Staffie, and her singing voice is unbelievable!

Turn up the radio......... :?:

Drive him ten minutes away from your house and walk him back. They often walk home if they won't walk away. Flopping is a fear response.

I have a very poorly old dog. I am trying to give him the best time I can for his last months here. His great pleasure is to go for walks. He is beautifully behaved (numerous times obedience champion) and only trots at my heels and sniffs smells as he goes along. In the world of dogs, dying dogs get...

My dogs wear collars 24/7 except when they are working, and I've never had a moment's trouble in a lifetime of dog owning. I use leather collars because if they do get caught up, they stretch and give, which you don't get with synthetic collars. My dogs' collars are loosely fitted so that if someone...

I move between them blocking the line of sight with my body and push the instigator aside using no words and no eye contact, then order each onto its bed.
Very important to push with body/legs rather than bending down and using hands.

If dogs attempt to eyeball again, the instigator has time out.

It's a long time to leave a new dog that hasn't settled in yet and may have an upset stomach from nerves. I suggest either having the crate in your bedroom so you can hear when he starts moving around and needs to go out, or you set your alarm for a few hours later and take him out for another empty...

Yes the climate certainly is different :D sometimes we feel lucky about it and sometims not! In the summer (much milder than your summer) it is still too hot to exercise dogs vigorously in much of the day so I and others get up very early and exercise our dogs before it gets too hot. People who can ...

Perhaps a trip to the vet for a full physical in case he has an undetected injury. These little chaps can easily get hurt.

Quite so. Training isn't one-size-fits-all, and needs to be appropriate to that particular breed/type, and that particular dog in that particular situation and at that particular time. You will note very few training videos showing the perfectly trained Afghan hound, or calling a beagle off a hot sc...

She can't bite with something in her gob, and she is a breed that has an in-built desire to carry. So when she is on-leash give her a toy to carry, but not all the time - swap it for a titbit sometimes so she learns to give and take on command. Give her raw bones and raw vegetables to gnaw to use up...

Back to the recall-with-rabbits - succinctly put, this is one behaviour to manage rather than train away. Terriers have a very strong prey drive Rabbits are natural prey There is nothing you can offer your terrier at this stage of her training that will be more appealing than a rabbit or a rabbit bu...
