Introducing...... "Mr Wonderful" !
Almost 8 weeks, pictured here still with some of his siblings, but coming to his new home next weekend. We are still not 100% certain on the name, but "Mr Wonderful" will definitely be one of the nicknames. Maybe he will even be registered with AKC this way, unless we decide on his real na...

Re: Fairwell my friend
Oh, we miss him, big time, every day. So many pictures, so many memories, my boy was by my side for 8 years. A lot of adventures, good times. Human memory is a funny thing, has a way of retaining good parts, I don't really remember many dark days, although I know we've had our share :-) I wasn't kee...

Re: board and train
I am of the opinion that training is a constant, every day thing that never ends or stops. Because there is infinite number of circumstances and situations, and each one is a training opportunity. That said - i see all kinds of dog training schools and classes as classes for humans to learn how to t...

We have solid hardwood floors.
Both animals - 110 lb dog and 8 lb cat- no problems walking, but slipping and sliding when running.

Great to hear about the cats, our tiny fluffy Himalayan girl is only 9. She doesn’t seem to miss the big boy too much, and jumps on Ari’s bed from time to time, which I still can’t put away. I think the bed will just have to stick around until we are ready for a new puppy. Happy Holidays, everyone!

Very sorry to hear. The pain of losing them turned out to be a lot worse than I could ever imagine...

Re: Fairwell my friend
Thank you, everyone. This was probably the easiest possible way for my boy to leave us - he was his usual happy and mellow self all the way up until last night, thrilled to see me as always when i got back from work, we took a short walk before settling in..... I am sure it's a good thing we were co...

Fairwell my friend
My boy Ari suddenly died this morning, 8 y.o. There were no indications until very later last night. It turned out cancer which didn’t bother him until is spread to his heart, and when that happened he was gone within several hours. The shock and pain and sense of loss I can’t even describe. For eve...

Re: Lab puppy sometimes jumps/nips while playing outside
For what it’s worth, IMHO any reaction to jumping/nipping is rewarding for the puppy, even if meant to be discouraging... not only she got to jump and nip, she also got her human huffing and puffing :-) So, no reaction was the way to go for us, when outside. Long sleeves help. I would just have to f...

Ari the 7.5 y.o. RR lost a bit of weight lately, and regained some of his good looks... muscles are visible again, which coupled with his size, low energy during the summer, and aloof demeanor (just slowly walking by people without even looking at them) turns heads again. “Wow, did you see that dog?...

“They are quiet, sweet, affectionate with their owners and enjoy being petted by others but they're not demonstrative. They won't jump over anyone or fawn over strangers, simply stand calmly beside them inviting pats. They're very clean and quiet in the house and although they love to zoom outside ...

Re: What are you and your dogs up to today? Part 2
Ari is not necessarily lazy, but definitely adverse to even minor inconveniences... like wet, or cold, or snow, or pretty much anything, so in order to get a good walk we have to drive somewhere (to the nature park, or to downtown), then he is full or energy, moves fast. But walks around the neighbo...

Ari The RR of weighed in at 115 lbs at the vet a couple of weeks ago, definitely gained weight during winter... the vet was not thrilled (to put it mildly), so the boy is on a diet again. At least supposed to be on a diet. My mother, the great self-discovered animal advocate, believes that dogs suff...
