Re: Mail slot training?

Something that seems odd to me, every one of the training methods suggested for stopping the mail always suggest that the dog bring the mail to the trainer/owner. WHY? Of course if you train the dog to bring it to you it won't work if you aren't there! It makes a lot more sense to me to train the do...

Re: Doggysitting

Not only can you play with him more, but teach him some new tricks! :D Since JRT's are smart dogs, teach him anything you like! :D It will be a big surprise for his owners! So how can I teach him to stop whining? Or at the very least, stop whining CONSTANLY, NON STOP, FOR AN HOUR STRAIGHT? Be...

Doggysitting

My uncle and aunt are celebrating their anniversary for the next week so they left their little Jack russle terrier Raider with us. Well, he's a spunky little fellow and that's not a problem. However, he's been whining a lot and I can't figure out why. I'll be sitting on the couch petting him while ...

Teaching "Stay in Kitchen"

We took Buddy to the groomers for the first time in... well, his seven years of life today! He's so soft! All that roughness was grime (Ewwwwwwwwwwww)   When my mom brought him home he was still damp and its cold and snowy outside so she brought him in the kitchen so he can dry (and ...

Re: Buddy's Friend... Curious Behavior

Ahh.. canine nookie 101..... When dogs mate, they start off as you would imagine (doggy style!)... the dog mounting the b itch - but then due to the way their respective bits are designed, the dogs member swells up part way down creating a knot which by this point is inside the *****, and the *****...

What exactly does this mean? They can still mate meaning they can do their stuff but not make puppies? And I'm not familiar with the term tie.

Re: Buddy's Friend... Curious Behavior

But I think these two are just enjoying each other's company. Just to be certain though, Buddy isn't neutered (never had any reason to neuter him so have never done it) so it may be possible she's trying to make puppies with him? They don't seem to be really trying if she comes over so I guess not,...

Re: Buddy's Friend... Curious Behavior

So, from what you say she could be coming into season and feeling a bit naughty, though also that sounds as if its like the way she plays with their other dog anwyay.. If that's how she is normally it would explain why Charlie isn't effected by her charm  I think he might be an older dog, and ...

Re: Overcoming Seasonal Changes

I've been waking up early :D 8) I must say, it sometimes is a struggle to get out of bed. The alarm clock goes off at 4 a.m. and my brain says, "Go back to sleep" I have to tell myself I am going to enjoy getting up and playing with Buddy much more than I will enjoy staying in bed, a...

Buddy's Friend... Curious Behavior

We have neighbors two doors down who have two pyrineses, one male and one female, neither is fixed (they breed them). They have a large fenced enclosure that they share with about 20 minature horses (big field). The male is Charlie, I think he's a slightly older dog than the female, Susie. He also s...

Re: Loose Lead walking

Once my dog is walking on a loos lead I don't worry where the head is, I let my dog walk were he is most comfortable, some prefer to be slightly infront, others behind, others next to me. Where it is safe I will let my dog walk quite a bit in front of me so they can investigate the undergrowth as l...

Re: Loose Lead walking

I'm confused about the term "close". So, does "close" mean: A.) Dog can walk anywhere on the leash as long as they don't pull and the leash isn't tense. B.) Dog walks at my side with his head not going past my hip. C.) Other? Also, my boy Buddy seems to walk beside me and then h...
