Re: Fireworks Preperation

Hi All, Well, tonight was not a good night. The drunks had been setting off the fireworks intermittantly over a period of about six hours. Ringo was so distraught that he didn't want peanut butter after the first hour. He absolutely LOVES peanut butter. This is the first time in his life he has refu...

Re: Fireworks Preperation

Hi All, My dog never used to be afraid of loud noises. We used to go and watch the fireworks. Neither thunder, gunshots, cannons or fireworks bothered him. Until three or four years ago. We went outside to watch the neighbor's fireworks and I realized that Ringo was shaking. I brought him inside and...

Re: Multi-Lingual Dogs

My dog, Ringo, is also multi-lingual (English, German and American Sign Language). Shortly after I adopted him I lost my voice, so I started teaching him signs so we could communicate. Then I decided to teach him some German. Afterall, shouldn't a dog with some german ancestry (German Shepherd mix) ...

Re: First Big Snowstorm!

I wish we had snow. I am visiting my sister in Pennsylvania right now. Unfortunately, we are having rain with some ice. Tomorrow is supposed to bring rain, and the next ten days will be too warm for snow. We had snow a few days after Thanksgiving last year. As long as we get snow before I leave in t...

Re: Have a Happy and Safe Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving to all, even though it may not be your custom. I, too, am thankful for all of you. Though I must say a special "thanx" to Emmabeth for helping me (privately) with a very distressing matter. And the biggest thanx goes to my dog. Without him my life would not be what it is...

Re: Tigre and Boo!

Emmabeth, Your description of digging the hole "just so," and then "missing the mark..." had me laughing. How true that is. A friend's cat would meticulously scratch out the right spot, perfect it over and over, and then miss the box entirely. But "cover" it, or where i...

Hoping one more will get the message

I was in a store which caters to pets the other day and saw a lady dragging her young dog around every corner. At first I wasn't sure I had seen correctly -- surely this woman wasnt' doing this, was she? I watched for a few minutes and I was incensed!!! I thought about going up to her, but knew I wa...

Re: sudden flea attack?

Sprinkle salt all over the carpets and let it stay down for several days before you vacuum. Salt dehydrates the flea eggs, effectively killing them. Repeat the salt sprinkling for a total of two weeks, though depending on the severity of the infestation, you may have to do this for up to eight weeks...

Re: josie's boys

The dachshunds are cute, but I have to admit being partial to german shepherds (and dobies).

And your shepherd is absolutely gorgeous.
