How do you feed a lower protein diet on Raw?
Hi All, With the problems I started having with the Wellness food, I have given up on the dog food mfr's. I just don't trust them anymore. Thanx to all of you who have posted valuable information about feeding Raw. I started Ringo on the Raw diet on Sunday. My question is this: Ringo is 13 y.o, and ...

Recent changes to Wellness Super5 Mix
Hi All, I am posting this in the General forum as well as the Health, Diet and Exercise forum for maximum visibility. I hope you do not mind. I have been using the Wellness Super5 Mix Healthy Weight for several years, without any problems. I turned to Wellness after the Chinese melamine problem and ...

Re: I love it when my dog(s)...
There are so many endearing things Ringo does, it is difficult to choose. I love it when he lies with his paws crossed. It has become one of his trademarks. For a dog who was abuse and who feared touch, he has become a real "love puppy." I love when he sits or lies near me and puts his hea...

Ringo is smiling with contentment as he enjoys the sights, sounds and smells of Autumn.

I apologize for the large picture. I couldn't make the image smaller. Due to the over-sized image, all of Ringo isn't shown.

Re: Friend's fat dog
Hi, Your post hits a lot of nerves. I could write a book about my friend and his over weight dogs. Unfortunately, his first golden lost her life at the young age of six due to being overweight. My friend is as thin as a rail and does not over eat. He is also active and a hard worker. People have tri...

Re: Eye Problem
Hi Flyby,
Thank you.
The area in which the ticks were biting has a high incidence of Lyme Disease.
I have to call the vet tomorrow to update him on the new eye medication regimen, so I will ask him for his opinion.

Eye Problem
Hi All, Ringo saw the opthamologist yesterday. The appointment was a combination his annual examination and because of a problem his doctor has been treating as a chronic condition. Ringo's doctor said it was conjunctivitis, which spread to both eyes, though worse in the left eye. He has been on the...

Re: Out To Lunch
How true, and how sad, ThePennyWhistle. If someone isn't in the prime of their youth, society seems to send the message that they have no place. How wrong!!!! It is wonderful that you spent a quiet afternoon with your best friend, Nettle. What a beautiful way to honor your best friend -- with good c...

Re: Listening to your dog...
Good question, Fundog. Ringo seems to know when I am thinking about taking him for a ride or a walk, too. And, like you, I will not have done anything to give him a hint; not yet dressed for that particular activity, no plastic bags for cleanup, no shoes, no keys, etc. Yet he knows. I often wonder i...

Re: What has your smart dog figured out?
Hi All, Ringo has learned and/ or figured out so many things it is difficult to remember all of them. He knows how to open his crate, and he knows how to open the apartment door (it opens into the hallway). He loves being vacuumed and if he feels he has not been sufficiently vacuumed or I haven't do...

Re: Fireworks Preperation
Hi, Just as I was out with Ringo (it wasn't dark enough for the planned fireworks displays to have started) a neighbor, two doors down, started setting off the noisy type of fireworks (those that have no visual qualities). It also brought a few not so nice words flowing out of me. That pretty much r...

Re: Fireworks Preperation
Hi, Thanx for the idea. Since my kitchen is small and crowded, I didn't think of sitting in there until the bone was appropriate for him to bring into the carpeted area. Today started well. I brushed and massaged Ringo for almost two hours, though not nearly long enough on the massage and belly rubs...

Re: Fireworks Preperation
Fireworks are illegal in my state, too. But that doesn't stop people from getting them. Heck, I live three blocks from the police station. They don't care unless someone blows off a hand or sets a house on fire, and they certainly don't bother the people at the bar next door. <Sigh.> We had a few qu...
