Re: Treating Skin Allergies in Dogs

I've read that article and so many others about allergies. I too wish it was that simple. We've talked to the vet about it also and she did mention getting the allergy testing done (blood). From most things I've read the skin tests are more accurate. What is most discouraging to us though, is that i...

Re: Episode 304 - Bad to the Bone (Jan 29)

My only question for Victoria about this episode is how did you feel about doing that little product placement? I almost fell off my chair in shock on that one! Not connected with the show, have no knowledge of the behind the scenes stuff at all. HOWEVER, shows in general are getting more a...

Re: Episode 304 - Bad to the Bone (Jan 29)

I think there are a lot of different opinions on this show - and that's awesome. For every person that seems to hate it, another three are loving it. Unfortunately, you don't hear as much feedback from those that love it. Those that hate it have NO problem saying how they feel, no matter how hatefu...

Re: Episode 304 - Bad to the Bone (Jan 29)

I can't believe I'm about ready to give up on IMOTD :( I can see very clearly that family dynamics play an important role in dog training. Seeing the pain this family was in was difficult to watch and I can't argue at all that Victoria seemed to have brought a road to healing for them. For that I sa...

Re: Walks and dealing with consistency in training

Things are going really well. Sulley is much better on his walks. We change around the route of coming/going and we are both working him when we walk him. I've noticed that Sulley is even better at taking notice where I am while we are walking. We haven't been having him heel, just simply keep a loo...

Re: Episode 303 - The Terrier Takes Manhattan (Jan 22)

I appreciated how well this episode showed how the owner's energy translates directly to the dog. When the couple were finally able to find some common ground to work together, the dogs responded. I'd still like to see more of the actual training and less people drama. I watch reruns early weekday m...

Re: Walks and dealing with consistency in training

Thank you so much for the well thought out response Emma, as always. I very much appreciate the insight. We talked about this today and I explained the approach you outlined here. So, we are in agreement about setting it in motion. I hope with both of us consistently doing the same thing on walks it...

Re: Video: Don't Pet a Dog on the Head

I don't really understand this. They don't like being Pet or Pat? Seems like a big difference to me, but is it the same for the dog? I wouldn't like being pat on the head as done in that video either. I notice there is another one about dogs not liking hugs, which I did know. I always thought that f...

Re: Walks and dealing with consistency in training

I was reading the response in this thread http://positively.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=9475 and I was thinking of trying it. I'm sure it can't hurt, can it? I actually do often wonder if Sulley is stressed in some way. I notice him yawning at times with that little whiney sound after and he h...

Re: Episode 301 - Menace to High Society (Jan 8)

Victoria strives to restore order and correct a dog's neglected health when she enters the world of New York socialite Jill Zarin, whose excessive dog pampering, which includes fancy parties and doggy bling, is threatening her lifestyle. Post your questions about this episode in this thread. Any wo...

Re: Sulley

Time to update. I love looking at the first photos I posted of Sulley, then seeing the ones I took today and how big he looks! I also want to draw your attention to the rare item in the photos. My rug with no hair!! I vacuumed minutes before I took these. It took about 20 mins after that for some wh...

Re: Walks and dealing with consistency in training

It is a similar route, yes. It's not street walking as you might be thinking, because we have no sidewalks around here. We walk part of it along a street, some next to some woods, we also go through a church parking lot which is adjacent to a farm. It is kind of a circle(ish) route and I don't alway...
