Re: Ridiculous rules regarding dogs
Thank you, everyone, for your kind words and sympathy over the loss of my dear kitties. It's been hard without them, but knowing that others understand makes it easier somehow. Ari, your kitty is beautiful! Mine were tortiepoints. LOL -- Mine is the neighborhood dog poo bin. Many allow their dogs to...

Re: Wish us luck
Some people just don't understand. There are losses we don't get over. We just learn to live around the new hole in our heart. Doesn't mean we can't love another, and the silence in the house is terribly painful in its own way. Getting a new dog just means that you're ready to love another in additi...

Re: Ridiculous rules regarding dogs
he could have made his feelings known without destroying the innocence of a child by calling her a thief so publicly and so crassly. It was embarrassing for me to watch, so lord knows how she felt. Brought back a memory for me. In the rural public library that about the size of your average chicken...

Re: Ridiculous rules regarding dogs
My objection is in the fellow attacking the child picking the flowers rather than the parent supervising the event.

Re: Ridiculous rules regarding dogs
Anyway, I was a few steps past when I heard a man loudly berating the kid for stealing the flowers which didn't belong to her. EVERYBODY turned around to look to see the poor wee lass dropping her flowers and running to her Dad in floods of tears. I'm sure the man will never know how close he came ...

Re: ducks!
My JRT killed ducks, chickens, squirrels, and anything else she could catch, which was just about everything -- she was FAST! My German Shepherd was a gentle dog, but if something scared me, she'd kill it. Rats and such in the stable were not a problem, but a rogue flock of geese came calling and de...

(((((((((hugs))))))))) to you, Sarah. I know there are no words that are going to
ease the hurt today, but try to remember you gave Rupert the most wonderful
life a dog could have. Thoughts, prayers, and sympathy with you today.

Re: Private dog adoption paperwork
Perhaps you might consider asking the local animal control agency about their paperwork to sign over animals to them. It seems to be legally binding and might give you ideas to write something up. At least it would be something to show the solicitor to give him/her some idea of what you're trying to...

Re: I'm broken :(
It looks soooo painful, Bensdog. And what a rotten time of year to have to deal with it. Do take great care with it though, to avoid the bones shifting. This spring I broke 3 of the metatarsals in my right foot. The orthopedist put me in a Cam Walker boot, a massive thing that looks like a ski boot ...

Eat, eat, grow...eat, eat, grow...doing just what little baby ponies should be doing. Glad to hear that all went smoothly today. They are coming along so very well for you. What I liked the very most was the photo where whichever one (I can't tell, sorry) is looking directly into the camera lens. Th...

Oh, that was lovely! She's a smart little girl, and trying soooo hard to do it right.
I love the look she gave you when you took the head collar off the first time.
"That's IT? That's all you wanted?"

LOL! Reread Karen Prior's book Don't Shoot the Dog. She'll tell you how to modify behaviors in your family. I read this as extra credit in a psychology class in college long before I realized it was also very good for dog training, horse training, neighbor training, etc. It may not be classic clicke...

Re: Thank You All
Ah, but dads are so sensitive to negative reinforcement! Just hint, however obliquely, that some task might be just a bit bit beyond them these days, and faster than you can blink they'll be out there repairing the roof or pruning the trees or peering like Mr. Magoo into some electrical circuit that...

A guy who will drive 40 miles one-handed with a baby mouse as copilot is a definite keeper! You find out the best and the worst of people when moving, I find. My last move a friend gave me a t-shirt with a bug-eyed, shaking cat hanging from the ceiling and the caption "I'm not always this calm,...
