Been reading this through and I must say, cheers to you for refusing to give on this pup. Most people would have labeled him "aggressive" and would have had nothing to do with him!

Also, I bet this morning on your walk you were feeling CONFIDENT! I'm sure he picked up on it! Good luck to you!

ckranz has got it - pumpkin can really help. Also, do you notice any other itching, paw licking, etc? Goldens can have a tendency for food allergies (esp chicken) which can cause a runny stool (of course, among MANY other things.)

There are plenty of good dog foods out there, you will just need to do some research. There are lots of "raw" kibble which has no grains and high protein - some names are Wellness Core, Innova Evo, and Nature's Variety Instinct, including many more. I remember the episode with the two black labs, I think they were also dane mixes. Anyway, I believe she told them to get cheaper "people" food and mix it with dry! A great alternative.
