Re: The monsters at the bottom of the garden
What a fat fluffy foxy. A few people feeding him, no doubt.
JudyN, you do NOT want a badger. It would rip up your garden, rip up your fencing and eat your potential hedgehog.
Trail cams are fun, though.

If you have a yard, planting something special in his memory can also help.

Re: Sighthounds are they really that quiet?
And the mediterranean branch of the sighthound world does bark when working, so that barkiness can translate into other areas of life if kept as pets. But they are still not overly barky unless there is a reason. Sighthounds in general do have a range of wowly yowly howly noises, and some of them ho...

Re: board and train
It isn't a great idea for a pet dog, though it would have its place for working dogs IF the owner could attend the last week. Someone else could train your dog, but then your dog would work for them not you. Unless the training skills are transferred, the training would not apply to the owner and wo...

Fundog, I am so sorry for your pain.
Dottie could not have had a better life. Sadly, part of the deal is that we live longer than they do - but how much worse it would be if they outlived us. She had a gentle death.
We are here for you if you need us.

They are nice little things. Not unduly noisy, and smart to train.

Not really. It's just that they have a different culture, and have not until now considered dogs as friends. Attitudes can be better changed by kindness and empathy, and attitudes are slowly changing.

Ari, I am so very sorry. He was a beacon of light as a Forum dog, and I have always enjoyed your posts about him. An easy end for him, a terrible shock for you. We are all your friends. Come to us and lean on us if you would like to. We've all been there, some of us many times. It never gets easier,...

Re: Corns
I think a short course of painkillers would establish whether or not there is pain. There are more modern ones than Rimadyl which allegedly have less in the way of side effects, but you may have to research these yourself. My own practice will not use R or Metacam, but I don't know what they do use....

Re: Swollen Lymph nodes
If she is feeling lousy for whatever reason, she will show different behaviour, just as we do. Dogs that feel ill and therefore vulnerable can produce a range of behaviours that are not usual for them. However, before you definitely put the odd behaviour down to illness. do check what may have chang...
