Re: Vent!

Why I am a Grumpy Old Bat again ...ha, seems to be a permanent state for me when it comes to other dog owners! So this is a bit of a post vent....I can honestly say I haven't been so angry for a looong time... So, my lovely rescue lad, who is doing so well came to us with what I'd consider a...

Re: Dog life in the UK...

Congratulations on your new job Elisa!! From my experience ...how dog friendly a place is really depends on where you are in the country.. Where I live there are lots of dog friendly cafes and restaurants whereas when we head up North (besides places like the Lake District) it seems much less dog fr...

Re: Secondary dermatitus advice

Interesting stuff..thanks Fundog :D Just to update I have spoken to the vet who has suggested we go back in..and although acknowledges the gel might be the problem ..reading between the lines I think she thinks excessive licking is more likely the problem. (Although that wasn't a problem until I use...

Re: Secondary dermatitus advice

Bless Hattie, she just lay quietly whilst I did the lavender treatment...normally she runs off if she suspects anything suspicious! It must have felt soothing for her... Just googled corticosteroids ....apparently they can suppress your immune system? If you're having an allergy flare up isn't your ...

Re: Secondary dermatitus advice

Thank you so much Nettle! What would we do without you :D

I have lavender and AV ...so will try some lavender now as you suggested.

No, she didn't check her glands...but to be honest Hattie was very uncomfortable being checked out yesterday...so perhaps when we go back I will suggest this.

Secondary dermatitus advice

Hey guys Keeping my fingers crossed Nettle reads this..but if anyone has any thoughts that'd be great :) So Hattie was at the vets yesterday with a sore looking bottom. She does suffer with allergy based dermatitus which is largely kept at bay thru diet but this normally just results in a little dis...

Re: What are you and your dogs up to today? Part 2

I would normally be scowling like mad at someone hauling their dog up the road, whether they had a harness on or not...today that person was me... Both dogs normally walk on a loose lead past any stationary cats...and of course both look extremely interested at cats on the move, but never ch...

Re: Delicate tummy

Yep, that would play absolute havoc with Jasper's digestion Oops..looks like i need a rethink ...he's been getting way more liver than 17g  If he was very wormy when he came into rescue/to you, there may be gut damage. This does right itself eventually but is a bit 'two forward, one back' to ...

Re: Delicate tummy

Hmmm thanks ladies, great food for thought. Yup , I batch up the food in the freezer..so prior to yesterday he had a meal of oxtails and heart..and the night before just a heart....so maybe I need to mix the rich food with the bony food...He has been getting the same thing for a few nights, ie rich ...

Re: Should I be worried about 'fair'?

I'd actually be managing the situation so Ki always feels safe when being petted /getting treats. Maybe distract Bax with something else when Ki is getting cuddle time, so Ki gets a break from the emotions of feeling intimidated when Bax is around. It might not be Bax is doing anything wrong, if he ...

Delicate tummy

Hey guys... So Mostyn our rescue boy is now on a raw diet. From day 1 of having him (we fed him kibble for the first few weeks, as that is what he was used to) there have been a day here and there when i can only assume he has had a delicate tum....basically refuses all food, even sausage treats, go...
