Oh wow that's a tough one. I think that honestly, if i were in that situation seeing "my former dog" treated like that, i would buy him back, no questions asked.

good suggestions so far! To keep the dog's water cold, i put ice cubes in it sometimes, when he lays in the grass in the shade, i give him an ice cube to chew on/play with.

The fee is pretty much the same unless ABC raised their price in the last couple of years I don't know if they offer payment plans like ABC did which was a huge help for me.

Unfortunately the name change won't change people's minds... If anything it sounds even more encouraging.
