Re: Calling all JRT's

I've just got a JRT X. He's almost a year, a rehome as opposed to rescue. He lives with two male rotties and they get along famously. The two big boys are always left tired while the JRT has just started the warm up! We love him to bits, he's been here just over a week, he's 10 months old and this i...

Re: Any suggestions.....

Well we've had good success. Not with any equipment or head covering kit. We simply tell him to lie down - and he does!!! I've been working on his send-a-ways, down stays etc. and he thinks it's a great game, so I tell him to lie down when I'm driving when he starts to grumble, and I have to say it'...

Re: Cesar Millan

Always going to provoke a reaction - good or bad! The media will always highlight bad points, that's what they do. I don't agree with everything he does but I like some things and statistics are nothing - anyone can make up statistics, and they do, to sell newspapers, make you watch tv shows. etc. T...

Re: Problems Seemingly Impossible To Solve

I own two rescued Rottweilers, and believe me, they adapt really quickly, so if you think you have a chance of getting this dog back with you, it would be a far happier result than where he is currently. Just my view, but I have worked with rescued dogs for over 25 years and there are very few dogs ...

Re: Keeping Dogs Cool

When you're out walking your dog on a hot day, tie a wet bandana or wet tea-towel around their neck - a practical fashion statement to-boot!!! :D

Mmmm. might look into that if it can be secured to a harness rather than a collar. Thanks for that, I'll let you know! :D

Re: vegetarian / vegan dog foods...

Definitely not something I would expect my dog to eat. If people wish to become vegetarian or vegan surely that's their choice, dogs are carnivores = eat meat!

Re: Any suggestions.....

The bark is definitely "get away from my car!" kind of bark, and "come any closer and you're mine!" Even I don't like the look of him when he's kicking off - although I love him to bits! :D People can be any distance away, or on the pavement, it doesn't matter, as soon as they ar...

Re: Any suggestions.....

Well as I have already said, when the crate is covered, we can't see a thing out of the sides or rear! I can't reverse, or see what is on either side of me and as we live in a tiny village in Somerset, it's useful to see what's about! It would be impossible to cover and un-cover the crate by an assi...

Re: Any suggestions.....

Yes we do have a dog guard at the front behind the driver's seat, and at the rear door so the dogs can get in and out. My other rottie is so laid back, I doubt he will ever join in the shennanigans! I think in three years I've heard him bark twice! One of the reasons he is a registered PAT dog...

No you can put it on paws straight away. Most chemists, supermarkets will have it or something similar.

E45 cream as it has Lanolin in it. Helps my Rotties and their cracked paws. :)

Re: Any suggestions.....

We did think about changing vehicles.... but thought it was a little bit of a shame as the car we have is just perfect for them both. You are right though, he's not anxious, I think he gets a buzz from it. We have tried taking them out separately, he's no different on his own, he still reacts...

Re: Any suggestions.....

We did try covering a crate, but having two fully grown male Rotties in the back of the car, did not leave enough room for the other one! The crate is so big (it needs to be, he doesn't sit for long, he must lie down, it's probably uncomfortable sitting for a while for him! :( ) by covering it, it w...
