A few concerns
I have an almost 5 year old GSD/Pit mix. He's always been healthy, but recently there have been a few issues I am concerned about. Issue #1: A while back he developed a small growth/bump near his eye. It was small, and didn't bother him at all. It began to get bigger, and at this point I asked his v...

Clingy dog
So, I have a question regarding my 4 year old German Shep/Pit mix. He has always been clingy, as in follows me from room to room, wants to lay near me whether I'm on the couch, the bed or the chair. If he can't lay right near me he's laying at my feet. I don't mind all that at all. But the past 4 da...

Re: My dog peed on my roommate's son's bed
Yes, I agree my roommate needs to learn a few things about dogs. I've had to teach him quite a few things I've noticed him doing as far as training goes, but taking them potty sooner is #1 on my list. He says he will do it and take them out sooner, so hopefully he will hold to that. And, the pee spo...

My dog peed on my roommate's son's bed
Hello- I have posted on this forum before regarding my German Shep/Pit Bull mix. He is a 4 year old, fixed male. Today, while I was at work my roommate text me and told me that my dog peed on his son's bed. Is there any reason WHY he would do this? He is super good about telling us he needs to go po...

Re: Just accept it?
Oh, it was brought to my attention to that perhaps I should take him to obedience classes? Won't this just be counter-productive as there are other dogs in that kind of class? I'm afraid he won't pay attention to ME, and just want to get at the other dogs..... Plus, I am not sure if there are any th...

Just accept it?
Hello all :) Its been a while since I've posted anything... I had a question regarding one of my dogs. He is a 4 year old, fixed German Shep/Pit Bull mix. I have only had him for a few years... I got him from my best friends boyfriend (she's not currently with him anymore, and her and I are no longe...

Re: Avatars and editing posts...
Okay, so I am going to be the one who asks a dumb question... I really wish to have a pic of my pooches on my profile, but I cannot seem to figure out how to place it as my avatar? I go into 'edit my avatar', and it has a blank spot where the picture will show, but I am not able to upload a pic anyw...

Re: Is it wrong for a dog to walk in front of it's person?
Yep. I was just trying to point out - let's not confuse the reasoning and the action. While the reasoning ("alpha", "pack order", etc) is wrong, the action ("dog next to or behind human") is not necessarily always wrong; under some circumstances it may be reasonable, a...

Re: Got a few random questions....
Now onto your Chi/Shi Tzu mix... Neither breed are dumb, not at all, in fact Chis are sharp little things - but, BOTH are breeds many would call 'stubborn' - and what I would call 'independent thinkers' - that is, they want to know whats in it for them, they won't blindly follow commands because yo...

Re: Got a few random questions....
How old is the GSD boy? I have a similar character ... Very sweet and patient with small dogs and young puppies of all kinds. But dogs his size - most of them are fair target to test the limits. Small dog people love him (except those whose small dogs are afraid of him). Big dog people - not so muc...

Re: Got a few random questions....
Little dogs should be able to manage big kibble - they certainly can manage bones! :) so I think getting your chi/shi's teeth checked out would be a good plan. Or maybe you are feeding too much? Her stomach will be very small - our terrier gets one heaped tablespoonful of food a day. I got their te...

Re: Got a few random questions....
Oh Emmabeth thank you for all that wonderful advice :) I remembered the other question I was going to ask too! In regards to my Chi/Shi mix.. Is it 'normal' for dogs to be hungry one day and not hungry the next? She's been hit and miss lately with the food. I had both my dogs on Taste of the Wild an...

Got a few random questions....
So, I have a GSD/Pit Bull Mix... it's been a while since I've posted here. I also have a Chihuahua/Shih Tzu mix. Some of the questions I have are as follows: In regards to my GSD, why is he so rough with other dogs? Is it just pure excitement? Or some aggression mixed in there? I had to stop taking ...

Re: AHHH! The scratching!!!
I had him on TOTW before, and he loved it, but there was only one store that sold it, and they aren't open on Sundays. I ran out of food before I had a chance to go get more and it was Sunday, so I had to come up with an alternative from Petsmart. Innova I heard was good (it had grains which turned ...

Well I guess, could they have fleas even though I don't see any evidence of them????
