Re: Pyometra advice please

Hi, I wanted to give an update. Molly is doing well so far. I'm a nervous wreck, but we saw our vet, and I talked to her a few times over the last couple days. She agreed and said she has a mild Pyo, it could be a UTI as well, her urine did have bacteria and the gravity was low and with my descripti...

Re: Pyometra advice please

Thanks Erica, I'm definitely going to get a second opinion. Maybe it's me, and because I don't know the vet we saw, but I don't think he really did anything to check her over. He didn't feel abdomen or her girly bits, heart rate or anything. She's never had to go to the vet for a sick visit, just he...

Pyometra advice please

Hello, I haven't been on in a while, my girl Molly is 6 six now and is not spayed and has never had a pregnancy, but has been a very health girl. This site has helped me quite a bit with her and for that I thank you all. I wanted to get some advice and opinions from I place I trusted. We took our gi...

Re: Homemade Doggy Puzzles on YouTube

aww. I love when I see Molly look-a- likes. I always ask their mix is because I'm not quite sure about our girl here. I know the father was a Sharpei, but the mother was supposedly a lab/rottie mix, but she was never over 40 pounds, and Molly is only 45. The tail is what throws me, I don't think I'v...

Re: Homemade Doggy Puzzles on YouTube

What great idea's. I love the food dispenser idea! I tried it with a sour cream container. At first Molly was very leery of it, but after a while she eventually got into it. I think she'll be more interested in the peanut butter jar dispenser, I swear she can be outside and can smell when someone op...

Re: Need Advice: Should Breeder Help?

Gosh, I'm so sorry you and your puppy are going through this. I would definitely call the breeder and see what she has to say. And if she's refusing to see that she's responsible for Holo's condition, you might be able to call your town clerk, or animal control office, to see what laws you have rega...

Re: The ladydog and being on heat

Thank you! I really hope it's not quite noticeable, just because I really don't want the kids to think she's going to have puppies. Especially my youngest, he's 9 and is always trying to talk us into letting Molly get married, so she can have puppies. LOL

Re: The ladydog and being on heat

Oh and I just wanted to add to Piki, I hope your neighbor got his dog under control, and has left Evee alone. I can't believe he actually said he wouldn't mind a puppy from her. Now that is someone who should have his dog fixed, because he doesn't seem to be very responsible for his dog. We ...

Re: The ladydog and being on heat

I just want to say thank you for this thread Nettle! We decided to wait to spay Molly, and she went through her first heat without any problems! :D It really wasn't bad at all. I think it helped that it was in August(the hottest month of the year) so there weren't to many dogs out and about. It was ...

Re: deer antler chews & teeth

Our Molly loves her antler chews! :) The only thing I do notice is that she can wear down the ends/tips of it, trying to get the marrow out, causing her gums to bleed a bit, if the ends get to sharp. It doesn't happen often, and it certainly doesn't seem to hamper her joy in getting out that marrow....

Re: Useful Links and Recommended Reading

What a great Idea! Thanks for taking the time to put this info together Minkee, and Jacksdad for the book info and training video's. I was going to post asking about any video's and books on training, this was really great to find! Thanks!! :D I was checking out kikopup's website from her youtube ac...

Re: Chewing, Please Help!

I'm not an expert at all, but one thing we've done with our puppy when we catch her going from something she shouldn't have is, the "leave it"and "drop it" commands. "Leave it' works on some things like when were walking and she goes for something, as well as with the cat, b...

Re: The ladydog and being on heat

oh thank you for this post! Being a first time dog owner of a female who's just 5 months old, this is something that we are talking about, and weighing the pros&cons of when to get her spayed. One question I have, (not sure if this is the right thread for it) But how does waiting to get your fem...

Re: Bonnie is in hospital - is home

I'm so glad to here she is home, and healing.

I'll continue to send lots of positive healing thoughts her way, and I hope all goes well with the other dogs now that she's home.
