Re: Chicken Wings - Yes or No?
Ok, that's what I thought. I just wanted to check with you guys. Judy, the very first raw meal they got was chicken wings, and Whisper did swallow the whole wing in one gulp! I freaked out, but she was ok. After consulting with you guys here on teaching her to chew it up, she now chews like ...

Chicken Wings - Yes or No?
Hi all. I haven't posted in a long time, because since I started feeding raw two years ago, things have been going great for my three dachshunds. I have a question though. I usually give two of my dogs chicken breast bone, which is what is left after the butcher fillets for boneless, skinless chicke...

Re: Eli's Itching Again!!
Nettle, I'd never thought of that. He has a lot of fur and is low to the ground. I wonder what the chances of his getting that many mosquito bites?
I will do the lavender oil and olive oil for the itchy spots tonight. Hopefully that will help.

Eli's Itching Again!!
Hi everyone. It’s been almost a year since I’ve last posted regarding Eli, my long hair dachshund. With the help of everyone here, I switched him and my other two dachshunds to raw last June. Eli had many food and environmental allergies. I did a guest blog over on Tinkerwolf on his success/recovery...

Re: Introducing cranberries to dog's diet
How about putting it in peanut butter. My dogs think that peanut butter's real name is "medicine". I'll say "let's go take our medicine" and off to the kitchen they run.

Re: The chicken, the egg, or both?
Hadn't thought about seperating the yolk and white part of the egg. Too be honest, I don't know if I want to try it. I have been working hard for the last several months getting Eli's allergies under control. Since starting raw full time in June, he has made remarkable progress. Spots that had all t...

Re: Join the raw fed gallery!
Hi Claremarsh.
I sent you an email with pics of my three doxies eating raw to be added to your gallery. That will be 3 dogs closer to your goal.

Re: The chicken, the egg, or both?
Hi Nettle. Thanks for responding. Listen to the dog: chicken and egg is affecting him, therefore for THIS dog, chicken and egg are no-nos. It may be to do with whatever the chickens were fed on, or it may be all chicken and all egg. Same with the beef liver. It isn't suiting him. What alternative? C...

The chicken, the egg, or both?
Hello there. I have a question about raw feeding and allergies. A couple of months ago I switched my crew, 3 doxies, to raw. All is going pretty good and I am seeing the benefits that comes with feeding raw. They love it. They were always an excitable bunch at feeding time, but now they act like a b...

Re: Old friend - how will I know when it's time to let go?
Doxietimes3, do you mean you still feel compunction about the fact you didn't do the research about the food? If that's the case, I know how you feel - I'm dealing with that also. It was partly due to wrong nutrition that my dog's liver got so bad. I also had vet's instructions but I should have al...

Re: Old friend - how will I know when it's time to let go?
Laurasus, I'm sorry you are going through this and have this decision to make. We had to make this decision 6 years ago with our cocker spaniel, Blackie. He was 11 years old and one of the best dogs we've ever had. He was going blind, hard of hearing, had arthits (sp?) and we think he was going a li...

Re: Boney Poohs
I'm keeping a food journal already. But, it never dawned on me to keep track of where we walk/what we do and itching/scratching. Good idea. I will most certainly do that. I only have one more day before my summer break. I'm looking forward to not only spending the next couple of months with m...

Re: Boney Poohs
Bendog, thank goodness Sash came to you when she did. Poor Sash, I bet she was miserable at that time. So far Eli's feet and ears are looking ok. Although he does scratch at his ears. It's like he becomes obsessed about it. He'll sit there and scratch and scratch until me or my husband tell him to s...

Re: Boney Poohs
Ok, here is an update. Eli, Parker and Whisper absolutely love raw. I haven't seen any more sharp bones in Parker's pooh. I think the bigger pieces is making him chew it up better. You need a meat cleaver. Chops through quite big bones with little effort. If I can do it - so can you mind yer hand th...
