Re: dog wont eat dry only wet food

if the dry is a complete then you shouldn't really be mixing it with tinned food.. this only ups the amount of protein and you will be feeding too much protein to your dog, which could cause upsets in the digestive system. If your dog is like mine, try mixing the dry with scrambled egg or tinned tun...

Re: Chasing the cat.

I had this problem too. Tara now lives with two cats who she previously chased. I stopped her by training.... basic general obedience training.. but I started off with resting birds (that were on the ground) at night... just walking her past them at night (this was in the summer) telling her to leav...

Re: Please HELP!! Training WITHOUT treats???

I am not and never have been very good at explaining things... Im better at showing people...  the hand at the rear end can be useful to stop pup walking backwards as sometimes happens..and so guiding the back end to sit... then pup would get either the reward you hold, or a wee scratch...

Re: Please HELP!! Training WITHOUT treats???

As for not using force, can I ask how you "put the dog gently into a sit" then? By getting their attention on your hand (or something in your hand) then raising your hand above eye level, so as they look up, you then guide your hand backwards, so the pup naturally has to go into a sit.......

Treats without them are few and far between but they are there :D Can you name them, would like to t...

Re: Please HELP!! Training WITHOUT treats???

I dont think that using treats is any better to using your dogs favourite toy or using touch as a good reward.. Dogs main aim is to make thier people happy. As long as the reward is given in a good positive way then the dog will get the idea that what it's just done is a good thing. Any reward can c...

Re: Dont do's

My current pony doesnt get many treats, but that's because last year he was a project and I had to teach him loads that he really should have know already. Like simply standing still and not wanting to run off when he saw a rug coming near... he really was frightened, same with being tacked up. I us...
