Re: Timid dog biting the vet
Thank you very much for the links - will read them. It would certainly take some stress off the situation whilst we get to grips with the handling problems! Just to add - last year he was held by his lead trapped in the door whilst he had the jab - he banged his eye which ended up swollen and red an...

Re: Timid dog biting the vet
We are also struggling with this - done all the visits etc - no problem - until the vet or anyone approaches. Muzzle training not going well either - VERY slow progress. Quite desperate now as annual jab is now overdue. We've had 2 visits recently with supposed sedatives given by vet to use - neithe...

Re: What one reactive dog achieved by at one point avoiding dogs
I've been following this advice and now Chico hardly reacts to other dogs (just the odd one who for some reason best known to himself he just can't ignore ...) and he actually has made quite a few friends now - still work in progress but thanks Jacksdad and well done!!!

Re: These dogs are impossible...
Firstly I am no expert but just want to say relatives or not PLEASE tell them this is so wrong - these poor dogs need their exercise and training - how can people just keep them penned up?? I think I would try walking them solo. They are not stupid - it's the only thing they're used to and anything ...

Re: Visit to vet - very nervous and reactive dog ...
This is so true - he's a different dog today thank goodness - not quite 100% but so much better - PHEW!! We shall be working harder when he is absolutely fine as I can't imagine the scenario if it happens again ... I happened to watch Cesar last night - he was helping a mobile vet who had tricky pat...

Re: Visit to vet - very nervous and reactive dog ...
We will be changing vets so he can start again with no "history" /rememberance of the place but we need to get him over this illness. He seems perkier now - my daughters have called in and he greeted them with some enthusiasm - he went off into the garden with them and he wanted to play. I...

Re: Visit to vet - very nervous and reactive dog ...
My husband phoned the vet today - they suggested putting a blanket over him - there's no way we will be able to do that - and get him to the surgery. He's eaten some scambled egg today but no chicken (and that's usually gobbled down). He must have vomited yesterday as a patch was found in garden. He...
