Re: Dog Thefts

This recent attack of dog thefts is so scary. A friend in Cambridge said that a woman put her dog and child in the car outside her house, then forgot something so popped back to the house for literally a minute. When she came out the child was crying and a van was driving away....they had stolen the...

Dog Vests

Does anyone know where I might be able to source some lightweight, waterproof dog vests (not full on coats, but ones that cover half the body or so, that i can print wording on the side)? I have one for Dylan, which says 'Please Give Me Space' and loads of people ask me about it. The lovely little c...

Re: Very aggressive Border Collie :(

I would say a full vet check would be a good starting point too....and having a dog who is fearfulk aggressive and cant be examined by the vet without being fully sedated, I know this is not easy to do!! I cant comment on the behavioural issues as they are severe and really need the help of a good b...

Re: Problem with Drop It command

Ok so you have the right idea on how to teach a good 'drop' command....but i think you may need to adapt it a bit. so he steals something you dont want him to have.....then absolutely you need to hgave a yummy treat and use it as a trade. As he drops the object you dont want him to have, say the cue...

Re: Feeding on walks?

What about cutting up pieces of liver sausage, liver, chicken etc and baking them in the over so they are little 'treats' instead of a pile of mush? <uch easier to feed on walks!

Re: What do you do with your dogs poo?

When were out on a walk its always in the middle of the coutnryside, in fields that sometimes have cows or sheep in (therefore have cows or sheep poo in) or in the woods....so if he goes then I leave it or if it is in the way, flick it in the bushes. I figure its far better to let it biodegrade out ...

Re: Rebuilding relationship with my dog.

OK so ccouple of questions! What kind of 'negative behaviours' are you struggling not to correct? Thew thing is, to dogs, they are not 'negative' behaviours....they are just being a dog. If we want to change behaviours, we need to give the dog another, alternative behaviour to do instead. So with pl...

Re: Pup puts on the brakes when walking on leash

What stands out to me is he will go with other dogs, so its almost indicating that when he stops and wont move its coz he is bored and when other dogs are around its more exciting and gives him some motivation. So does this happen each and every single time the owners want to walk him anywhere? or i...

Re: Rebuilding relationship with my dog.

Maybe it would help you to think of your dog as a child? I mean it might not.....but myself I have immense amounts of patience with animals, but very little with people and kids! But some people find it helpful to think of dogs in the sense that they dont know what we want of them, or what we are tr...
