Re: Just like cats and dogs...

Thanks Emmabeth! I will search for both of those!! He is a good boy, and can control himself in other situations, but the cats are just too much fun for him! Although the cats would disagree! :)

Re: Just like cats and dogs...

It is cold and the snow is pretty high here since it snowed (meaning, if we go outside anywhere even on many sidewalks, he would quickly be lost in the snow - taller than he is) so our normal walk is out right now. We would be gone for about 1/2 hour to an hour when we went. I have been searching fo...

Re: Just like cats and dogs...

thanks Melissa, yeah I have done those funny little dances too many times to count! I am prepared to spend my entire day giving him time outs for a few days (if not more - man, those doxies are a stubborn bunch - but I knew that!) I have to keep in mind to not let him get away with it even once. He ...

Re: Just like cats and dogs...

I have tried some things with little success. I will see a glimmer of hope, and then just as quickly it is gone once the dog chases one of the cats. I have to be honest and say I have not tried the time outs to the degree that I need to so this is my next step. I have a question or 2 first though - ...

So, if it wasn't bad enough that the dog is abusing the bell - tonight one of cats learned how to ring it too!!

Re: Where to get a good fitting harness?

I bought this one, originally for the no-pull aspect but I really like it. Unfortunately the smallest they had was too big for my doxie but I just sewed up the top where it is supposed to tighten if they pull and it fits really well. He doesn't have much hair on his tummy so I was worried about it r...

Re: New way for dogs to tell you they want out for the loo

I taught my doxie to ring bells to go out - they do work, but he also uses the bells to ask for attention. It feels like I am a darn butler some days - ring ring, I need out... ring ring, play with me...ring ring CHASE ME!! I have a love hate with the bells right now!! :D :D He does us them to tell ...

Re: Bully Stick/Cow Trachea/Antler Question

Thanks again everyone for responding! I just bought a bunch of bully sticks online (all natural, no added chems or additives) for a heck of a lot cheaper than anywhere in town even with shipping. I thought about cutting them down too so they last longer, but also so he doesn't have so much at one ti...

Re: Bully Stick/Cow Trachea/Antler Question

Thanks very much! I have found a few good sources for these that do not include any chems or additives, and I am glad to have confirmed the need to adjust his food. (ummm, on a side note - do the bully sticks and other such chewy items give them gas? We sometimes feel the need to evacuate the area.....

Bully Stick/Cow Trachea/Antler Question

My mini doxie LOVES bully sticks and the cow trachea's we give him. He likes the antler too, just not quite as much. He is 7 months old and can go through them quite quickly. The trachea he can go through in about 1/2 a day. Is this too fast? I watch him, and it seems he isn't getting very big piece...

Re: Monkey, the doxie with moxie

thanks Melissa and Hydey! I don't think you can see it in the pics, but his stripe goes all the way down his back like a line and the colors switch, at certain angles, he almost looks like a checkerboard. A checkerboard that a 6yr drew but still! :) you can sort of see it this pic, when he is straig...

Re: Monkey, the doxie with moxie

Thanks everyone! I actually went to see a younger pup but he stole my heart when I saw him and his markings! He is a character and he can make anyone stop in their tracks with his looks. I am still getting used to that in fact, being a person that keeps to herself, I find it disconcerting at times t...
