Re: Infected incision
He does have synovial cell sarcoma. I am beside myself. The vet has suggested amputation and chemo. After watching him suffer with the small incision he has now I cannot imagine how he would handle another procedure. He is a big guy pointer/lab that is very labby looking...barrel shaped...and a bit ...

Re: Infected incision
Thanks for the hugs!
Rocky just got back from the vet and she said that proper cleaning and the anitbiotics really saved him from a hospitalization.
Is there info or a forum topic related to amputation? The vet keeps bringing it up and I am so conflicted.

Re: Infected incision
No, I understand. I was not looking for diagnosis, I am a nurse and have many vet techs in the family so I know he was infected, I guess I was looking for support. It is so difficult to see your baby in pain and not being able to do anything so help...well, nothing that will work fast enough. Even o...

Infected incision
Hi. Looking for advice...my guy had a biopsy done on his front left wrist on Monday to rule out synovial cell sarcoma. Because of the placement of the incision, right in the joint, it has been hard to keep covered and closed. Yesterday, when changing the dressing I noticed a foul smelling drainage. ...

Constant panting
Help! One of my boys has started panting all the time! He will go for hours on end. He follows me everywhere, sits under the table/desk when I am there, sleeping on the floor next to my side of the bed just panting and sometimes shaking...it is really getting out of control and nothing seems to make...

Swollen nodes and cellulitis
Hi! I was wondering if anyone could offer come clarification....my big guy had a cut on the inside of a hind leg. We were cleaning and treating it 2X a day and it was looking better. Then we noticed he was totally wiped out after only a short walk. His nose was warm and dry. We took his temp which w...

Raw diet help
I have 2 super fussy (aka spoiled) dogs who are very picky with their diet. After my last visit to the pet store trying to find some kind, any kind, of dog food that they would find appealing, the saleswoman suggested a raw diet. I know there is another post regarding this but I am looking for a sam...

Re: Dog won't stop shaking!-update
Rocky went to the vet and sure enough....his tail was dislocated and badly sprained. She said that he may have done it while wrestling with his brother. Perhaps he fell back on it. Now that it is "set" he is much improved. It is still swollen but he is sitting and wagging now. I never knew...

Re: Dog won't stop shaking!
My husband didn't notice anything but it was dark when they want out. I went over him once or twice to make sure there was nothing hurting him but now that I think of it...he slept on his bed in our room most of the night and was super restless. They usually sleep on their sofa in the den by the fir...

Dog won't stop shaking!
My husband took the boys out this morning and when they came back in, Rocky was shaking like crazy. Tail down, he ran for the sofa. When I went to pet him he started crying and ran to his favorite hiding spot. It has been over 2 hours now and there is no change. Bruce (husband) was able to get him o...

Re: Antler Dog Chews
If you are getting the antlers straight from the deer, other than cutting off the points, is there any special way to clean them before giving them to the dogs?
My guys just love to chew and I need something they cannot go through in 10 minutes!

Re: Dogs are limping
to Mattie and runlike the wind...I cannot thank you enough!!! I ordered the Cortaflex and started Rocky on it right away. It has been 4 days of the "load" dose and I cannot believe the difference it has made. There is still a slight limp when he wakes and after wrestling with his brother b...
