Re: Allow playing?

Our older dog has always been kind of overweight and the great thing is that now we have a puppy and she is way more active, she is 11 so before she just slept a lot. I was going to come on here today to ask a similar question about play. Our older dog (Ebby) is extremely vocal so everything "s...

Re: Potty training/Fleas/Sleep shakes...?

I'm wondering how big your crate is? We heard that if the crate is too big they will go potty in it.

Re: Crate Barking!

The injured leg is a tough one because you can't really get all of her energy out as easily. I completely understand that, I worked at a vet for a while and I can't tell you how frustrating it is when people don't crate their hyper pets when they have injuries so I am really happy to hear that you h...

Re: Crate Barking!

We take our puppy out for walks and play pretty hard in the backyard before crate time so she is usually pretty tired by the time she goes in there, we schedule our whole morning around play time right before we leave so she is tired. Then in the afternoon when we go back to work from lunch she gets...

Re: New puppy

I will say that with our 10 week old puppy every minute that we are not at work we are taking turns being 100% focused on our puppy. We can't even make dinner without someone constantly watching her (mostly due to potty training and her ability to eat anything and everything that she shouldn't) they...

Re: New puppy

We have an 11 year old lab and brought a new puppy home about 2 1/2 weeks ago. At first our older dog Ebby wasn't too interested and that was fine, we just let her have her space. She wouldn't let the puppy go near her toys and pretty much would walk about 10 feet around the puppy just to avoid her....

Re: HELP! New GSD Parents in Over their Heads

Our puppy is really nippy too, except she nips hands and arms, which is expected and it seems that she is done playing with a toy after 5 minutes. So to keep her distracted we have started keeping a pile of toys on our couch, we sit on the floor and when she gets tired of one we swap it out with a n...

Re: Dachshund Puppy Wont take a walk

I think we are definitely going to start trying what you are doing with your puppy though too. It might help when we start to take her alone. Eventually her and I will be walking a lot more than my older dog can handle.

Re: Dachshund Puppy Wont take a walk

When we take her with our older dog she is fine because she walks right along side her. Nixe (puppy) loves our older dog, also loves to try and jump on her during the walk, but she walks and keeps up. It is just when she is alone she won't walk and my older dog is 11 so sometimes she just stays home...

Re: Dachshund Puppy Wont take a walk

We take her for walks outside because she is so wild that we literally can't do anything with her until she goes for a walk. I don't know if it just a normal puppy thing but she is a German Shorthaired Pointer (we knew what we were getting into when we got her) so she is so full of energy and when w...

Re: Dachshund Puppy Wont take a walk

We are having the same issue with our puppy. When we take our older dog on walks she is just fine because she loves being right along side of her, but if she is alone like we did this morning she just sits there and doesn't move. Then if you turn around she just tries to run home. Nixe is 9 weeks ol...

Re: Rottweiler Puppy Smaller Than Littermates

There are lots of different parasites that can cause loose stool besides roundworms. Coccidia and giardia are just two culprites that can harm puppies and dogs, not saying your puppy is sick just wanted to make sure people know that monthly heartworm preventative doesn't cure all parasites.

Re: Rottweiler Puppy Smaller Than Littermates

Also one more note....if you feed him nothing but his food for a couple days and he still has loose stool take him to the vet to make sure it isn't a parasite causing the problem.

Re: Rottweiler Puppy Smaller Than Littermates

One handfull per meal doesn't seem like enough. I would start using a cup measure so you are feeding a more accuarate amount and check the label on the food to see how much. Don't forget to weigh often and adjust accordingly since puppies grow like weeds! Just for reference we are feeding our 9 week...
