Re: Reverse Sneezing?

reverse sneezing can happen in any breed of dog, although obviously more common in brachcephalic breeds. But my JRT most definitely doesn't have a squished nose, just one of those things that he has a long soft palate. With Kennel Cough dogs are often positive for a tracheal pinch - where if you pin...

Lancashire Heelers

Just wondered if anyone on here has a Lancashire Heeler? I'm not sure how popular they are in the US, but in the UK the only one i've ever seen 2 both owned by my brother/his girlfriend. They're a small breed, JRT sized, black and tan with pointy ears. My brother has one - his girlfriend's family wa...

Re: Calling all JRT's

I've got a JRT. His dad was a Parson's and his mum a little JR so he's quite long legged.

He's such a dude, and is so easy to train although he does have the 'why should i, whats in it for me' attitude.

I never really liked terriers before, but i love them now!

Re: Reverse Sneezing?

My dog reverse sneezes occasionally. The cause for him is a slightly over long soft palate, so occasionally it flops down a little bit and interferes with his breathing. Mine is a Jack Russell, but reverse sneezing can be quite common in brachycephalic (squished faces) breeds as with the shortened f...

Re: Lhaso apso sitting on lead

it might help to train him to touch a target. My dog knows 'touch' means he touches the palm of my hand with his nose (you can also use a target stick for this). It's really handy for moving him where I want him in a hands off way. He's a very nervous dog and sometimes puts the brakes on, by getting...

Re: 15 week old who has food aggression

completely agree with Emmabeth, hands never take they always give. You may need to take something from the dog, but if you always swap it for something better the dog should never have an issue. You need to start getting her to 'drop' something boring she has for something super nice you have, and t...

Re: Nothing But Pitbulls

What's the general public's view on pitbulls in the states? Do you get the wrong sort of people owning them as 'status' dogs much? I live in the UK and as you are probably aware, pitbull terriers are on the 'banned' dogs list. Anyone who owns one must be on a register, the dog much be chipped and ne...

Re: Walking a nervous dog

Thanks,I thought if would be a big nono to pick him up,but if does make sense that it may be what he needs at the moment in the short time. We don't really go back to where it happened as I can't trust those dogs to be there, and the owner hasn't got any control at all. I really can't think what the ...

Re: Feet licking is back, I'm so so upset

The trouble with allergies is there is so many things they could be allergic to.allergy testing can be helpful but in some cases it's hard to find the cause.my dog tested positive for allergies to grasses and I treated him with immunotherapy vaccines and now he is almost symptom free.I really do thi...

Walking a nervous dog

Hi everyone,I've recently joined and have been reading all the threads with interest and hope I can get some input on my 'problem'. I have a 4yr old JRT who I have owned since 9weeks old.he's an absolute dude and has been so easy to train-I clicker trained him from the start and he's just a delight ...
