Has your Dane seen a vet recently? If so, did the vet notice any signs of pain or anything unusual?

Re: Agility dogs unite!
I've decided to take Betsy out of class. One of the doggy classmates kept wanting to play with her---wouldn't focus on anything but her to the dismay of her handler---and since Betsy has a history of being harassed by Maggie, it was stressing her out. Of course, we always ended up next to each other...

Slightly off-topic: If you're looking for any agility books, check out cleanrun.com; they have other agility supplies there too.

Re: Presa Canario Episode
Are you sure you agree with the articles you've referenced? From the Leerburg article: Below are some behaviors often found in dominant dogs. • The dog will try to push through a door before you. He will knock you out of the way to get outside first. • The dog will try to prevent you from petting hi...

Re: Presa Canario Episode
Have you ever been bit by a dog that wanted to fight another dog, but it couldn't get to that dog, so out fo frustration, you get bit instead? I watch my dogo all the time get so frustrated when he misses catching a squirrel that he bites tree branches and rips them up, or bites the grass and rips ...

Re: Presa Canario Episode
Part 3: IMHO, this thing about the "dominance myth" is an attempt to take the blame off us humans(see most humans dont like being wrong in the first place) for what we actually caused in the first place, but not being "gentle leaders" to our dogs. No, it isn't. The most thing dis...

Re: Presa Canario Episode
Part 2: OK, I see you got that "misinformation" from that link on the "dominance myths," LMAO. Nope, I've read both sides. Thank you. :) OK, let me try to break this one down for you to better understand. You are correct in saying most dogs to not WANT to be pack leader, they loo...

Re: Presa Canario Episode
See my earlier post on +P/-R I'm referencing your quote so you can explain it to me. In order to categorized as -R, there must be some unpleasantness involved agreed or else the dog won't throw behaviors to avoid the irritant. Once the dog does the right behavior, the irritant is removed, hence -R....

Re: Border collie redirecting aggression (split post)
Cassie, do you mind giving a break down of your day--food, exercise, socializing (if any)--as well as a more detailed picture about these incidents with your Border collie?

Re: Presa Canario Episode
Yep. I guess the best way to describe and compare the way we use an ecollar and a prong collar would be the equivalent of continuously softly tapping someone on the shoulder that is doing something else that you would like to get their attention, and when they finally pay attention to you, you stop...

Re: Presa Canario Episode
Sorry, I guess my interpretaion is different than yours of a time out.... Negative Reinforcement strengthens a behavior because a negative condition is stopped or avoided as a consequence of the behavior. Punishment, on the other hand, weakens a behavior because a negative condition is introduced o...

No more episode chats?
I was wondering if Victoria was still interested in episode chats. The forum isn't the right place for the chats, would her twitter or Facebook accounts be the right?
