Re: How much exercise?

My dear 5 month old Golden Retriever has been diagnosed with moderate hip dysplasia. If anyone has any tips on how to manage this I would be grateful. The vet has suggested hydro therapy for the next year but my insurance only covers me for 3 months. I was thinking about letting him swim in the near...

barking at people when out

I have a new problem with my 5 month Golden Retriever. He has learnt to bark not that that is a problem but he barks at people when we are out, or when people who enter the house, Today when we went to the stables he barked at the owner of the stables when he approached us. It is particularly bad wh...

Re: Separation Anxiety - Poo Eating (Coprophagy)

I don't think you need to go to the lengths of cutting it in half and stuffing it!! I just distract the puppy have the pot of chilli powder in one hand, then walk past the poo and tip the chilli powder over it. Even when the puppy did see me do it it was effective. Good luck!!

Re: Separation Anxiety - Poo Eating (Coprophagy)

My puppy ate his poo and the vet said to try and catch him doing it and put chilli powder on it. Although I didn't catch him doing it all the time when I did the chilli powder was very effective. He is five months old now and rarely eats his poo. thank goodness!

Wow, that is most helpful especially the bit about only calling the dog once.

Thank you so much.

Re: Kennel Club Registration

Many thanks that is most helpful.

I have the advert saved on the computer as there was a cute photo of the puppies on it.

I will follow your advice and see if I can do anything about it.

Kennel Club Registration

I bought a Golden Retriever puppy on the 9th Feb 2010. I was told and it was advertised as Kennel Club resgistred but I still haven't got the documents back. Everytime I ring the seller she has some excuse like, been very busy or posted it yesterday, I am beginning to wonder if it is true. Do you th...

Re: Washed Out.... Potty Advice!!

Hi Gemmie, I wonder if you could tell me how you taught your dog to ring the bell when she wants to go out and what kind of bell you use. I have a 3yr old Chihuahua who hasn't learnt to ask to go out and she only has accidents if I am not at home and one of my teenagers doesn't remember to put her o...

Re: How much exercise?

Thank you Horace's Mum, I took Toby to the vet this morning. The vet gave him a thorough examination and said he couldn't feel anything. He was hopeful it wasn't hips but said you can't really tell if its the hips until 18 months old. He gave him glucosamine tablets and an anti inflammatory injectio...

How much exercise?

My Golden Retriever pup is 4 months 9 days. I love taking him out for walks but if he runs around in the field having a wonderful time, he sometimes comes back with a slight limp on his left back leg which doesn't last long once he has had a rest. I have been told the pup should only have 5 mins exe...

Re: Possible aggression?

Sounds like she just wants to play to me, I'd take my hand away and get a toy and distract her with that, I wouldn't make a big issue about it. She is only 8 weeks old still has much to learn so make it as fun and positive as possible.
