Re: How can I stop my spaniel Scavaging?

Hi, Spanners :D Their noses are so good. Have you thought about muzzling her? I know it is unpleasant but maybe you could do it just for the area that is littered with food until you get to a cleaner area that is safer. I have a friend who has to resort to this with her dog who has been made ill sev...

Re: STILL no luck on leash

Hello again. Another link, this time to an American site, I have not read it but it does seem to promote positive training methods and may be helpful. GSPs are primarily bred as working/gun dogs, I think you call them bird dogs in USA. To them the world consists of smells, they live off their noses ...

Re: Rescue Puppy..dilemma over separation anxiety

Hello, sorry to hear you have so many problems with your pup. If you can post some further information I'm certain the experts will offer you a way forward. The more detail the better. What breed is he, daily routine, what do you feed, how often, training sessions, exercise, in fact any and all deta...

Hi, if you follow this link: http://www.thekennelclub.org.uk/service ... px?id=2035 it takes you to the Kennel Club (UK) web site and gives a lot of information about GSPs.

I hope some of the information may be helpful to you. Best of luck.

Re: Rehoming is going as bad as possible - help!

Hello, really sorry to learn you have taken the decision to re-home your boy, it must have been awful for you as well as him, very sad all round. Is there a possibility you would reconsider your original plan and keep him? It seems as if recently you have made good progress with his jumping and mout...

Re: Fear of car

Hi, what a problem for you. I did wonder if in fact Jasper may be experiencing travel sickness but not displaying any conventional symptoms (vomiting/salivating). He may just find the vehicle motion very unpleasant, hence the stressed panting and general reluctance to enter the car. It may be worth ...

Re: no sleep during the day for 2 days and totally hyper

Hi and sorry you are having problems with you GR puppy. It does sound as if he is a bit poorly, possibly the pork bone or rawhide chew, or both has upset his tummy? It is best to only give him RAW large beef bones such as leg bones, these will keep him busy and help with his teeth which may also be ...

Re: Floor fright

Hi, I have this laminate (slippery) flooring in my kitchen, one of my dogs will walk quite happily on it, the other behaves as if he is about to put his feet in an acid bath! I have had to buy large rugs which he uses as stepping stones to negotiate the dangerous kitchen

Re: I have a cunning plan...

Hi, good plan and really hope it works, worth a try though but think you will need to be determined as it is Jasper and one of his eccentricities  I have similar issue here, we are surrounded by field and woods, hence foxes, badgers and deer are regular visitors at night. Since the very hot wea...

Re: Preparing for an old abused dog with problems

Hi, would just like to add to all the good advice you have been given. Six is not 'old` for a Lab, certainly the dog won't think or behave as a middle aged one, Labs are like Peter Pan, they never grow up  The way to the average Lab's heart is though it's stomach, although in fairness, not all ...

Re: Dogs whining for a walk

Hi, well I suppose if you spent hours locked in a room with nothing to do and no company, you would whine when you saw the only person who did provide you with some mental stimulation and exercise  The jumping up and clawing you, although annoying is not deliberate, your friend should have spen...

I think the trainer needs a choke chain  Poor dog sounds to be very misunderstood and is hampered by belonging to someone who has no idea.

Re: 13 week old lab puppy biting only me - help

Hi and welcome to the world of the Looney Labrador  As a lifetime owners of Labs, I can confirm they do bite, like hell when puppies, it does pass so don't give up hope. Redirect onto something else, stuff something in their mouth and walk away. Don't interact when pup is biting you, don't shout...
