Growling Puppy
One of my puppies (11 weeks old) growls fiercely at us when we pick her up to put her in her play pen for a sleep. I put the pups in there when they get tired so that when they wake they will stay clean and I can take them straight outside to potty. The other two just accept this but Milly gets real...

Re: Chasing Behaviour
I know, I know and I do feel guily. It is very rude behaviour. If a dog doesn't run away, he'll just have a circling sniff like they do and move on but it's if they run - he assumes they want to play chase and to be fair, most of them do. Its just the odd dog that is scared but as you say it could b...

Re: Guarding Food
I tried taking it away if he was mucking about and not eating it, using the theory that if he learnt it would be taken away if he didn't eat it he might eat it. When I said he doesn't mind I meant he doesn't growl or anything. He does look though but if I say "well eat it then" and give it...

Guarding Food
My 4 year old entire Irish Setter boy often won't eat his dinner because he wants to guard it -presumably to prove to my other dogs he is in charge of this resource. He doesnt have a problem with me going near it or taking it away. He tends to eat it during the night once he is in his crate and all ...

Re: Things that can really hurt your dog
Iced water can cause your dog to bloat apparently. See topic 'Frozen Treats' for more info.
The mints Tic Tacs and any food containing zylitol (could be xylitol) often found in sugar free stuff is poisenous to dogs.

Re: Frozen Treats
I'm so glad I posted that now. I can't remember where it came from but since I read it I have been paranoid about letting my Goldie have ice cubes which he loves. If it's just ice water he can't have I'll start letting him have them again but not if he is very hot. Thanks for the advice

Re: New chew toy (cow hoof?)
I bought them once and my dogs loved them but boy do they stink!! I think they need to be an outdoor chew only unless you have a blocked up nose. Great for discouraging visitors though

Eukanuba
A friend is thinking of changing her dogs' food to Eukanuba but I'm sure I've heard something bad about this dog food but just can't remember what. Can anybody help? Many thanks.
