Thankyou all. Our episode was recorded early 2006 so 4 and a half years ago now, but I know it has been repeated a lot.
I agree about there being something special about staffies. He had the best personality ever.

Some sad news re the Red and Jasper episode
You may or may not remember the third dog in Red and Jasper's episode - Oscar the staffy cross. He was the best behaved of the trio so didn't get much TV coverage. Unfortunately just a week before his 14th birthday he was taken to the vet's and didn't return. He was a medium sized dog with a huge pe...

Re: Any members here ever on the show?
We appeared on the show (the episode was Red and Jasper), and although I don't come on all the time, I do try and get on once in a while.

Thank you for all your advice. I think it is a case of the fight/flight reflex, as he just didn't have anywhere to run and as I said we already knew he didn't like cyclists and this one just seemed to appear - well i was behind but I didn't see him until it was too late. I'm not sure I fully underst...

It may be that it's anal glands need emptying. Some dogs empty them themselves by doing the dragging thing or the vet can also do it. (You will know if the dog is succesful as it leaves a nasty oily smell, but you can't always see it.) I also think this may (again I'm not sure), be caused by certain...

Chris and I were devestated after we had told some of our closest friends that we intended to call our baby Ellie if it was a girl (I was about 7 months pregnant). Then a few weeks later they rang us to tell us they had just found a breeder with a puppy they wanted and had named her Ellie. Obviously...

When a dog bites
We recently had a very scary near miss. We were all out for a family walk, Chris and the dogs in front and me and the kids walking behind. We came to an area of the pavement where there were cars parked closely by and the next minute there was a cyclist on the pavement, going in the opposite directi...

I agree with katowaggytail. And I'm pretty sure that the dog actually mauled the child (completley unprovoked) At the end of the day this is a real life TV show and sometimes decisions have to be made that aren't nice, and don't make for the comedy viewing that we more often see, but are neccessary....

I don't think I'm going to be very helpful here, but when I was struggling I actually contacted the production company and after several telephone conversations, they sent someone over to do a kind of audition tape, then they got in touch to say we were sucessful, and we met Victoria a few weeks lat...

I think its tiger that is lucky too as you were prepared to put in the training, and that goes a long way. Unfortunately the extent of our training pre-Victoria, was once a week - if that, with our local trainer and we didn't take them out for walks very often. The majority of our issues were down t...

We found one of our Labs becoming quite protective of me before hearing about this and didn't think anything of it - just assumed bad habits were re-surfacing. It was only after I had been diagnosed with cancer, had it treated/removed, and I went out for a family walk with him that we noticed the ag...
