Re: My dog takes clothes off the clohtes line.
Had a goat when I was a child did the same thing, no stopping him. He would stand off and watch my Mother hang the clothes, look at you with that "I dropped too much acid in the 70's" look he had and away he went for the clothes. He was I think responding to the voices in his head :...

Re: Stupid neighbours
Sorry to revive an old post, but thought I would mention what happened with the neighbours dogs. I did write a letter to the paper, but if it made any difference I didn't notice it. I did not call the dogcatcher on the neighbours but am now wishing I had done so, as it might have prevented this. Yes...

Re: Hurt or attention seeking?
I have thouroghly checked the leg, and can't find anything unusual (compared to her other front leg) or that would be causing her pain. She doesn't mind me doing this, nor does it seem that any spot in particular is tender. On walks, she is her usual self - which is to say kinda slow & lazy. She...

Hurt or attention seeking?
We have a few caltrops (spiky plants that really hurt when stuck in a paw or bare foot) in our yard. Generally the dogs manage to get around them, when they don’t we have to pull them out of paws ourselves. Recently, Keia has started limping when she doesn’t have anything in her paw. She doesn’t do ...

Lexi earns her name
AS with most rescues, Lexi came to us pre-named. Hubby and I had a bit of a laugh when we found out the name meant "Man's defender or protector" as she is the least aggressive dog I have ever met, and if someone ever broke into our house Lex would probably just try to lick them to death. W...

Re: Border Collies
Please be careful doing agility at such a young age. In the UK dogs are not allowed to start training until they are at least a year, other than basic obedience and directional work around jump wings and maybe poles on the ground. You can cause longterm damage working a dog over jumps, doing tight ...

Re: Stupid neighbours
Not sure a letter would have much effect... I have tried talking to the nieghbour with the three terriers in person even, and the converstation basically ended up "They're my dogs, I'll do what I like with them". And sorry about the horrible spelling in the first post - English is not my f...

Stupid neighbours
For some reason, it seems like half the dog owners in my town jsut let their dogs run free. I'm not talking about in the park or while on a walk, that's no problem as long as the dog is properly trained, I'm talking about dogs running around on their own all day, no collars or tags and no owners in ...

Re: Border Collies
I have an EVIL border collie/kelpie mix. Ok, she's not that bad, she just has never ending energy. We also do agilty with her (two great breeds for it) but she's still a puppy at heart - 7 months old - and tends to get distracted a bit easily. We're working on it. She's a beautiful little girl - kel...

Jumping and whining
Lexi has a two main problems we are trying to correct - nipping and jumping up on people. We've been trying to do time outs whenever she starts, but this is cuasing other problems. She's a bit of a sook and whines and/or jumps up on the door when we do time outs. Jumping problems ususally present wh...

Re: Found Puppy
It's not a con. The owners were very upset when I told them what happened, but didn't blame me in the least. I just feel horrible about this, and hope they get him back. I don't know what I can do about it though...

Re: Found Puppy
He was stolen
His owners called today as they saw the posters and thought we still had him.
Why are people such a-holes!

Re: Found Puppy
Weird thing this morning... I got up to take to dogs for a walk, and decided to walk Piglet separately from my girls (three hyper dogs at once is a bit much for me to handle). I walked him first, came home, left him in the yard while I took the girls. He still had one of our spare collars on. When I...
