Well done! I personally consider this type of training to be the most fun in the world.

Re: Shamelessly begging for sympathy and cookies
Oh owie! I'm so sorry to hear about your crash. I know firsthand how much face/nose injuries hurt, and it's worse than almost anything else on the body! Yes, go curl up and stay quiet, take care of your self, and I hope you heal quickly. Oh, and though i'm sure you already know this, the doctors ove...

Re: will your dog come to you when....
My dogs are convinced that anything I have or might be doing is far more interesting that what they've got going on, so yes, mine will come if I call, no matter what. It won't be a fancy recall, with lovely straight approaches and proper square sits, but they'll come. And if I'm moving around away f...

Re: Any ideas for dog walker gifts?
This will probably be a dissenting view... But should one get a cleaning lady a new mop for Christmas? I would go with a bottle of wine, especially for a male dog walker  I'd guess that it depends on how well you know your dog walker. As the dogs are the area of overlap, I tend to stay in that...

Re: Emaciated rescue
I used Nutri-Cal. It's a high calorie supplement that comes in this smelly paste that creatures just love. I used it for starving kittens so that they got the calories without the volume. It can be found at PetsMart and other such places. Congrats on giving this little girl a new life for Christmas :D

Re: Dylan's way of greeting me....cute but what does it mean??
My sister had a Golden Retriever who did this throughout his lifetime. He lived during the era of Star Wars action figures, and those were his absolute favorites to parade with. Almost every photo of him has some poor character with head and arms sticking out under one lip, looking like they are wav...

Anyone here not yet familiar with Talewaggers Doggie Carols? They can be found here: http://www.talewaggers.com/carols.html My favorite is Hark! the Joyous Doggies Call (to the tune of "Hark! the Herald Angels Sing") Hark! The joyous doggies call Mama’s returned from the mall Let us greet ...

Re: Back to the question of 2nd dog (hounds)
Seriously, about the group outings -- it might work out. We used to have what we called Greyhound Run Night back east. We'd rent this huge indoor riding arena for a couple of hours once a month, close the gates and turn everybody loose. They'd run like crazy, have informal races with each other, and...

It was 14 degrees when we went out this morning, and I'm still trying to thaw out,
so my biggest vote at this moment would be for hand warmers! However, as the
earth does turn and it will be hot again, Dog Walker t-shirts and sweat shirts
are always good and on topic

Sounds like the new year is going to be a really good one for you, OH, creatures, and the purple "Zoom Cart" as my father and I called his. Take care in the physical end of settling in, and enjoy the new beginning! We'll be waiting to hear about the excitements (good and bad) of the new li...

Re: Gossip and Oya
That sounds like wonderful progress with Oya! Wonder if she is shy of competing with your pocket pony Gossip for attention? Either way, her trust in you seems to be growing by leaps and bounds, and that must feel great. Hope your dodging skills are good with your little boy's naughtiness. I'm glad y...

ooh, you do have a princess, don't you  It's early days yet, and she's been through so many changes in what, a month? If big brother keeps getting all the attention and the goodies, she'll soon realize she's missing out and you're not so terribly scary, I bet. The very fact that she's realized ...

Re: Any advice for breaking up pit bull fighs?
Thank you, everyone, for all the good advice regarding this mess. I have talked to social services, and they cannot help, especially as the children are not there all the time. Apparently Dad has primary custody, which I was unaware of, though they seem to be there a lot. They are concerned, but unt...
