Re: Herman and the Harness
 Noobs, Herman is packing his (numerous) bags and is on his way - I am the meanest mummy in the world because I won't take him outside. He has been out 3 times in the last half an hour (because he has just had his breakfast and there is the outside possibility he might actually need a wee) but ...

Re: Basic Commands & Tricks
I taught Herman leave by whenever he had something he wasn't meant to, I'd take it off him, say 'leave' and give him a treat in exchange. We haven't quite mastered 'drop' yet, but he definately knows leave now! TBH leave pretty much covers drop for us though. As for tricks - Herman only really knows...

Re: Recall and loss of
At last an owner who recognises this, thankyouthankyouthankyou, I wish there were lots more like you. I have a dog that is so terrified of dogs racing up to him, especially Weimaraners as 2 attacked him one day when he was sitting with his back to them, that he now has panic attacks when he sees a ...

Herman and the Harness
 In his defence, his brain is a long way from his paws. In a thread I started yesterday, I mentioned he was having 'recall issues' when he saw other dogs and what could I do to nip it in the bud. Ems said to get him a harness (I run an online pet shop. One day I hope to sell something other th...

Re: Recall and loss of
Thank you everyone :D Long line? Dog? I am so going to end up on my ***. When you say harness... He has a Dogmatic headcollar. Assuming this is no good for Norty Dogs? He only wears it on the lead as otherwise he tends to go everywhere on his head which is good for comedy value right up until he run...

Recall and loss of
 Herman is a 10 month old LH Weimaraner. Up to now his recall has been good anywhere we go - he is an utter mummys boy and didn't use to let me get out of sight on a walk. In fact, his recall IS still pretty good - as long as there's no other dogs about. If a dog tells him no, he tries again a...

Hey sweetleaf :wavey:
 the puppy. I'm still thinking up silly questions about Herman. Most of it seems to come back to him 'being a Weimy' though

I think Herman might want to come and play one day. Yours might remind him that he isn't The Greatest Dog in the World and thus MUST be played with

Re: Major UK Pet Food Brands - Who owns which
Don't forget that 'wet' food also has a moisture content - it's usually around 70 - 80%. That's water  So essentially wet food is 80% water, 4% meat and the rest *dunno* Sweepings off the floor? Also, Bakers - if any of you live on farms or where there is livestock that ends up in the human foo...

Re: Herman Barkington - long haired Weimaraner
No feelings hurt here - Herman is also known as Tim Nice But Dim :) This morning was a happy day - he cocked his leg for the first time  Sadly, he fell over while doing it, but the thought was there! He is currently sat in front of our open fire, which has been going all day and is really quit...

I suppose it could be worse - it could have been Pupski I guess.
I shall post pictures. Do I post the good ones, where he looks like a nice, refined Weim, or do I post the ones where he is the very epitomy of 'Crazy Weim'?

Re: Question.....on Neutering....
Sorry to hijack the thread Why would you wait till 2 years old? I am currently getting earache off everyone saying I should have my 9month old (large breed) dog cut - mainly at dog training - saying that other dogs will react to him differently, he may get attacked for it, I'll lose his good behavio...
