Re: training advice needed
He looks a lovely chap. Protect him from the approaches of rude dogs (we have grillions of threads here saying how to) and don't let him "play" with other dogs because it won't be play. He was bred for a job you don't want him to do, which is why staffies love people to bits and don't car...

Re: training advice needed
Thank you Mattie.... I think the over-riding advice is to let him be. He is NEVER a problem with anyone else and seems to cope fine with the amounts of comings and goings in our home. This weekend when we took him to the seaside, he gets so excited when he sees other dogs, but as we live in a very r...

training advice needed
Hi I need some advice. Our staffie is a rescue dog and there is clear evidence that he has been abused. He's settled in really really well and gets on with all the members of our rather large family. In particular he loves my 9yr old stepdaughter and has shown her nothing but love and affection. He'...

two dogs or one?
I would really really love another staffie but myu partner says no - not until we retire and have time to spend with both of them. We both work full time; I teach and consequently am at home by 5 at the latest and have all the school holidays, and my son is usually home by 3.45pm.... we leave at 8am...

Re: rescue dog
I have to admit - I personally don't like or agree with crating. My dog is part of my family, and a very loved part of my family - hence why he often sleeps on my son's bed or at the bottom of the bed. And yes - he does get on the furniture, and curls up with us for cuddles. He is a very very affect...

Re: reputations
Many Staffy owners don't help their breed, I know of someone who's Staffy attacks smaller dogs, her owner is in denial and kept letting her off the lead and to go out of her sight, the first she knows of her dog attacking another is the noise. If you say anything you get verbally abused, it isn't h...
