Re: Would this concern you?

Sorry, I did not pick up on that nuance. Glad to know that you will keep Rupert nice and safe. Surprised that a place would allow children to post signs for this type of work. Of course, it is up to the responsible adult to see the ad and laugh!!!

Re: Would this concern you?

Noobs, boils my blood too. You are sooooooooo right. Walking a dog is no job for a child. I will add one more comment: If you are unwilling to make the time that is necessary to train, walk and take care of your dog perhaps you might stick with silk flowers!!!! Wow, we are on a roll today, aren't we...

Re: Would this concern you?

In a perfect world it probably would be OK. However, you might have noticed that life does not conform to our desires many times. Sooooooooooooo many things could go wrong with a child walking your dog: the dog pulls and gets loose and runs away; the dog encounters another dog off leash who is aggre...

Re: PETCO - Puppy playtime and socialization questions

Sounds like a good plan. It is good that you are committed to keeping Sulley safe since that is a most important thing. People come from forty-five minutes away just to be in our dog park (obviously, these people do not come every day; nonetheless, we see them there a few times a week at least). You...

Re: PETCO - Puppy playtime and socialization questions

As I mentioned before the area that Petco sets up for the puppy playtime is very very small and it does not matter how many dogs there are - it is too small for a play area plus slippery (i.e. not good for their hips) as well. I believe this "free" puppy playtime was designed for you to me...

Re: PETCO - Puppy playtime

I have done this at a Petco near me and it was good one time. The floors were slippery so the dogs were sliding around and the space is very small and with too many pups not too good. We found a local dog park and that helped socialize our pup faster than anything else. Plus, it is outdoors, lots of...

Re: Would this concern you?

Yes, this would deeply concern me under all circumstances and I would not allow it. You have to remind some children that age to brush their teeth so walking my precious animal is totally out of the question. It is best if that were the case for you too. Glad to see so many people responding to this...

Re: Post Boarding Problems....

Simba did not come home noticeably excited and we thought he was pretty calm, not tired, actually. He just seemed to have an edge and then a number of days later acted in this fashion. He had been to the dog park a number of times this past week and acted totally fine. That's why we were surprised. ...

Post Boarding Problems....

We just boarded Simba (cage free boarding with a person who seems to take care of safety real well) for the first time so we could take care of my mom who had a cardiac procedure and he seemed to be Ok when we first brought him home. Since he we rescued him fifteen months ago he always got along wit...

Re: Immediate help requested

Yes, I am leaning quickly towards the mildewed carpets. He is still a young guy and I will just give him some things to boost his immune system. Lesser of the two evils sort of thing.... There is supposed to be a good boarding facility like you described well over an hour from here. I think that is ...

Re: Immediate help requested

Thank you all for your input. I will consider it all. I am out of time to do more; however, an alternative is a place with mildewed carpets. He would be safe and well cared for and what prevents me from jumping ahead is how after only one night stay there he smelled horrible and I am thinking he is ...

Immediate help requested

I have had a difficult time finding a suitable place (I did find an OK one eventually; however, there would not be any other dogs in the home and I believe Simba would be bored since he is such a social animal) to board Simba for our trip to assist my mom with a cardiac procedure which is very short...

Good advice all. I will get started on this project immediately. It must be annoying to him even though he has not indicated it to be so. Thank you all.....

Re: Cut it out?

He does not mind me massaging the area. It is only when I focus on it visually and he is thinking I am going to "do" something (like use a toothpick to pick apart the hair) that he objects. The most I can do, unless ya'll have other suggestions, is to massage the area with the knot of hair...

Re: Cut it out?

Emmabeth, Thank you for your ideas. The knot is pretty big unfortunately; nonetheless, we will begin to work with the oil and hopefully over the weekend it will begin to loosen up. If not, we could always try Plan B although we would need a Vet to help us with that and I hope we can avoid that. He l...
